We are seeking an experienced Service Engineer/Technician to join our growing Rydalmere team.
Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, this hands-on technical role is responsible for the diagnosis, servicing, repair and commissioning of Palfinger Cranes, Hookloaders and Tail Lifts. As the primary technical resource for service and repair activities, you will work closely with customers, technicians and the broader service team to ensure equipment is maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose faults across hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems
Perform servicing, repairs, breakdown response and preventative maintenance activities
Provide technical support and guidance to workshop and field service technicians
Conduct inspections and identify repair requirements on customer equipment
Assist with commissioning, testing and handover of new and repaired equipment
Support warranty investigations and technical reporting requirements
Liaise with customers to provide technical advice and job updates
Ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed to Palfinger and OEM standards
Maintain accurate service records, job documentation and inspection reports
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop and service operations
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all service activities
Support field service activities and customer site work as required
About You
You will be a technically capable service professional with strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, ideally gained within the heavy vehicle, transport equipment, hydraulic, crane or mobile equipment industries.
To be successful, you will have:
Trade qualification in Mechanical, Diesel Fitting, Auto Electrical, Hydraulic Systems or a related discipline
Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicle or mobile equipment
Strong hydraulic and electrical fault-finding capabilities
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and service manuals
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
A commitment to workplace safety and quality outcomes
Current driver's licence
