The Role
Pipeline Engineering builds the systems that help our engineers develop, test, and ship Pure Storage products with speed and confidence. In this role, you will design, build, enhance, and scale CI/CD and build-and-test pipelines used across engineering. You will work on software and services that make complex workflows simpler, more reliable, and easier to operate. You will partner closely with product engineers, Production Engineering teams, and release stakeholders to understand real developer needs and deliver durable solutions. This is a software development role with meaningful impact on engineering productivity, platform reliability, and the future of our pipeline architecture.
What you will do
- Design and implement scalable CI/CD, build, and test pipeline capabilities that provide fast, predictable feedback to engineering teams.
- Develop production-quality services, APIs, workflows, and developer tools that simplify pipeline configuration, execution, debugging, and reporting.
- Evolve the pipeline architecture toward modular, fault-tolerant, durable, and well-defined components with clear interfaces and manageable blast radius.
- Improve pipeline performance, capacity, and resource utilization as workloads grow across FlashArray, FlashBlade, and other engineering environments.
- Build meaningful observability, metrics, and diagnostics so engineers can understand pipeline health, identify failures quickly, and make decisions from data.
- Partner with product engineering, release engineering, and platform services teams to deliver capabilities that solve real workflow problems and support critical releases.
- Own outcomes end to end, including testing, documentation, operational readiness, incident follow-through, and long-term improvements to the systems you build.
What you bring
- Experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining production-quality software, services, or developer platforms.
- Hands-on understanding of CI/CD, build systems, test orchestration, release workflows, or related engineering infrastructure.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Go, Java, or C++, along with strong scripting and automation skills.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including API design, distributed systems, concurrency, testing, debugging, and performance analysis.
- Experience working with Linux/Unix systems and diagnosing problems across application, operating-system, network, storage, or infrastructure layers.
- A data- and quality-oriented mindset, with experience using logs, metrics, dashboards, queries, or tracing to improve reliability and developer experience.
- Strong ownership, communication, and collaboration skills; you can work through ambiguity, influence across teams, learn quickly, and help others succeed.
