What You Will Do?

• Provides leadership and direction for Talent Cycle, Payroll, Pension and Benefits Services to RBC employees across countries in the APAC region (Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Japan)
• Deliver accurate and timely end-to-end payroll services ensuring compliance to internal and external regulatory requirements, including processing, taxation, payments, adjustments, remittances, cost allocations, audits, verifications, GL reconciliation & reporting, etc.
• Ensure APAC-wide regulatory returns and management information relating to the payroll function are prepared and submitted within respective deadlines
• Drive compliance, standardization and efficiency of processes within region, aligned to global processes, technology and governance for RBC employees the APAC region.
• Ensure effective operational controls are in place, properly operated and reported; that defects and failures are highlighted and reported; that remediation plans are developed and actioned
• Takes a proactive approach to operational risk by identifying, reporting and mitigating highlighted areas
• Fully participates in all required controls reporting (internal HRSS, EOP, Ops Risk, Internal Audit HR etc.)
• Manages team workflow, meeting all deadlines and SLAs
• Provide guidance and assistance to HR Business Partners, employees and managers in resolving HR data, system, process or policy related issues.
• Ensure the data integrity of the Workday and HR Systems related to employee lifecycle changes
• Utilize HR Systems data to understand employee trends, identify patterns, and measure the effectiveness of talent cycle tools, documentation and processes
• Ensure that Talent Cycle, Payroll, Pension & Benefits Operations adhere to all controls by following policies and procedures and reporting required changes
• Manage and train team on the day-to-day operations and activities of their team, including providing guidance and support and evaluating performance.
• Foster a positive, collaborative team environment that supports high performance for all team members and HR partners in the region.
• Drive a high level of performance, superior client experience, operational excellence with a focus on continuous improvement to drive efficiency.
• Manages performance through established measurement tools; promotes reward and recognition of top talent; coaches and mentors direct reports on an ongoing basis ensuring development plans are in place

What Do You Need to Succeed?

• Strong leadership skills; proven ability to manage teams across multiple regions while balancing initiative delivery
• Strong understanding of payroll program compliance, reporting requirements, and governmental / legal / regulatory environment across multiple countries in the APAC region
• Critical and analytical thinking, balancing attention to detail with connection to overarching global strategies
• Excellent project management skills, including planning and deployment of transformation initiatives
• Experience and understanding of best-practice vendor / supplier management
• Strong experience with HR and Payroll Software applications.  Experience of working with Workday an advantage.
• Very strong communication skills (both oral and written)
• Proven experience in managing relationships with senior stakeholders
• Demonstrates leadership in promoting a customer service mentality.  Leads by example
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and prioritize work effectively
• Adaptable with the ability to work under pressure in a team environment
• Enthusiastically embraces change
• Self-motivator with a high degree of self-sufficiency.

Must Have?

• Several years of HR related experience, knowledge of HR processes and procedures, professional/financial firm experience
• Experience in HR Operations / HR Shared Services Management
• Proven track record of strong people management
• High levels of knowledge of relevant legislative requirements Strong technical ability with HRIS systems and excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Tools
