Role Summary and Impact
As Senior Activation Manager in Gothenburg, you will play a key leadership role across media activation teams and in WPP Media’s Gothenburg office. Our activation teams work within specialist areas of paid marketing, including paid social, paid search, programmatic advertising and tracking & analytics. In this context, activation means turning media strategies into live campaigns by planning, setting up, optimizing, tracking and reporting on paid media activity across platforms and channels.
You will lead, coach and develop Media Specialists across disciplines, while also contributing hands-on to client delivery. The role combines people leadership, operational excellence and senior activation expertise, with responsibility for ensuring high-quality campaign setup, optimization, reporting and delivery across disciplines.
You will help build a strong, engaged and future-ready team by setting clear goals, supporting career development, driving collaboration and ensuring effective ways of working across client and specialist teams. A central part of the role is to strengthen delivery standards, improve efficiency and automation, support resource planning and help teams adopt new tools, methodologies and processes that improve quality, profitability and client outcomes.
Working closely with activation leaders, team managers, client teams, People/HR and the wider Gothenburg leadership team, you will act as a role model and escalation point in complex delivery or client situations. Your impact will be measured through the development of high-performing specialists, strong client delivery, improved operational processes and a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and accountability.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5–10 years of relevant experience from media, marketing or advertising, with senior responsibility within at least one specialist area such as paid search, programmatic advertising, paid social, tracking and analytics, print, out-of-home advertising or another relevant media discipline.
- Proven experience leading, coaching or mentoring specialists or similar teams, including setting goals, giving continuous feedback, supporting career development and creating clarity around expectations, performance and development pathways.
- Strong hands-on understanding of campaign setup, trafficking, tracking, optimization, reporting and delivery quality, with the ability to translate client objectives into effective activation plans and measurable outcomes.
- Solid understanding of how media delivery teams operate, preferably across more than one specialist area, with the ability to guide delivery standards, workflows, documentation, handovers and ways of working across teams.
- Experience working with large or complex clients, with the ability to connect day-to-day delivery, operational decisions and specialist work to client KPIs, business goals and commercial priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to drive efficiency, automation and continuous improvement, and to support teams in adopting new tools, methodologies and processes that improve quality, profitability and operational effectiveness.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, translating complex topics into clear guidance and actions.
- Fluent communication skills in Swedish and English, both written and verbal.
- Experience with recruitment, onboarding, training, internal knowledge sharing or specialist upskilling initiatives is highly valued.
