Pratt & Whitney’s Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles (MSEN) organization is seeking a highly motivated individual ready to take on leadership responsibilities as a Project Leader to join our team supporting 30K Mechanical Systems. In this role, you will take part-level ownership for key mechanical components—including bearings, seals, gears, bearing compartments, pumps, and more—leading Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) task planning and execution. You will play a critical role in coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring component objectives are achieved across the full product lifecycle. As a Project Leader, you will have direct interaction with engineering leadership, program management, suppliers, and customers, providing an opportunity to influence technical decisions, drive program execution, and build strong relationships across the organization. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, technically strong, and an effective communicator who can lead an IPT, navigate complex engineering challenges, and deliver results in support of next-generation engine programs. Experience across the product lifecycle—including design, manufacturing, development, validation, entry into service, and resolution of field service issues—is highly valued.
What You Will Do:
- Accountable to CIPT for part-level ownership, including communication, risk management, and execution to program requirements.
- Identify, manage, and close technical risks and issues, partnering with the IPT and cross-functional teams to drive solutions.
- Support successful technical and program reviews, ensuring the team is prepared to communicate progress, risks, and key decisions.
- Help manage IPT budgets and schedules to meet program commitments.
- Track and support technical and business metrics to drive program performance.
- Participate in customer, SIPT, IPMT, and senior management interactions and presentations.
- Provide technical support for validation engine builds and engine test activities.
- Travel Requirement: 10% (Domestic and International).
What You Will Learn:
- Lead high-impact engineering work, collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders, and help deliver innovative mechanical systems for the next generation of Pratt & Whitney engines.
- How mechanical systems move from design through validation, engine testing, entry into service, and field support.
- Lead through influence by working with engineering, manufacturing, program management, suppliers, and customers.
- Communicate complex technical issues and recommendations to senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Manage technical risk and make data-driven decisions in a highly regulated aerospace environment.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years of experience in Manufacturing, Military, Logistics, Aerospace, or Aviation industry; or an Advanced degree.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering bachelor’s or advanced degree, with experience in the aerospace or turbofan engine industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and coordinate cross-functional teams on strategic projects, with strong organizational and project-management skills; PMP certification preferred.
- Customer-focused problem solver with experience addressing complex technical and business challenges with vendors and customers, and strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics.
- Familiarity with the Pratt & Whitney Leadership Operating Model (LOM) or similar operating model, and experience or training in Continuous Improvement, LEAN, CORE, ACE, or Six Sigma.
