Brown & Brown is seeking a Product Owner to join our growing team!
The Product Owner is a pivotal member of the Scrum team or squad, responsible for maximizing the value of the product resulting from the work of the development team. Acting as the voice of the customer and stakeholders, the Product Owner bridges the gap between business objectives and technical execution, ensuring that the final product aligns with organizational goals and user needs.
The Product Owner plays a critical role in the success of a Scrum squad by championing the product vision, maximizing value delivery, and fostering strong collaboration between business and technology teams.
As a member of the Retail Technology Solutions team, the Scrum Product Owner will serve as the subject matter expert with our customers and the assigned product or product areas.
This position is HYBRID, located in Plano, TX.
How You Will Contribute:
Lead transition to one shared Agency Management System.
Own, create, and maintain the product backlog, ensuring it is visible, transparent, and understood by all team members.
Knows the business results to be achieved and collaborates with technical resources to research and recommend solutions based upon the business case.
Clearly define user stories and acceptance criteria, providing sufficient detail to guide development.
Ability to understand business needs and translate to the development team.
Actively engages with Scrum squad to clarify features, reduce ambiguity and remove blockers to keep delivery moving.
Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Demonstrations, and Sprint Retrospectives.
Represents the empowered decisionmaker for the squad, providing timely decisions that maintain momentum and reduce uncertainty.
Inspect deliverables at the end of each sprint, accept or reject work based on predefined acceptance criteria, and provide constructive feedback.
Represent customer needs within the squad, ensuring solutions deliver meaningful value to both customers and the business.
Participate in Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Review, Retrospective) and collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for process and product improvement.
Tracks sprint-level KPIs to assess progress, delivery health and value realization.
Licenses & Certifications:
CSPO, PMI-ACP, or PSPO or appropriate certification.
Skills & Experience to be Successful:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of experience in customer service, technical support application support, or insurance
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize and make decisions in a dynamic environment.
Understanding of Agile principles and Scrum framework.
Experience with product management or business analysis.
Customer-focused mindset and problem-solving abilities.
Familiarity with relevant tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Azure DevOps).
Preferred:
Prior experience in transition, migration or transformation to an Agency Management System.
Intermediate knowledge of CRM software (Dynamics, Salesforce).
Intermediate knowledge of ITIL, Agile and Scrum frameworks.
Intermediate knowledge of the insurance industry.
Experience in supporting a variety of business applications in a production environment.
