The Payroll Advisor is responsible for providing Tier 1 operational payroll support for U.S. and Canadian payroll operations. This role serves as a key member of the Shared Services payroll team, processing payroll-related transactions, resolving employee inquiries, performing data audits, and supporting payroll compliance activities. The Payroll Advisor partners closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, and business stakeholders to ensure payroll activities are completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.Job Description
- Process payroll-related transactions in Workday and related payroll systems.
- Support employee data changes, direct deposit updates, tax elections, earnings and deduction updates, and other payroll maintenance activities.
- Assist with off-cycle payments, corrections, and retroactive adjustments.
- Support termination and final pay processing activities.
- Resolve payroll inquiries submitted through the service portal.
- Research employees pay concerns and provide timely responses.
- Escalate complex payroll, tax, or compliance issues to Senior Payroll Advisors or Team Leads.
- Maintain service levels and provide outstanding customer support
- Audit payroll inputs and transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Review timecard and HR data for discrepancies.
- Support payroll reconciliations and validation activities.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and audit evidence for payroll controls and SOX compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency.
- Participate in testing, process documentation, and system enhancement activities.
- Support knowledge management and standard operating procedure maintenance.
- Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews.
- Support garnishment, taxation, and regulatory payroll activities as directed.
- Prepare standard reports and payroll-related documentation.
- Follow established payroll procedures, controls, and governance requirements
