What’s The Role

We are looking for a driven Middle School Math Intervention Teacher to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction, utilize Responsive Classroom techniques, and monitor student progress while collaborating with colleagues to refine teaching practices. In this role, you will provide Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS) to students with IEPs, delivering individualized math instruction in small-group settings aligned with each student's goals and mandates. You don’t need to speak Hebrew to apply, and we strongly encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups to join our community!

What You’ll Do

  • Provide clear and consistently high-quality Math instruction for all students in small intervention groups
  • Create instructional lesson plans and classroom activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in a meaningful learning experience
  • Provide SETSS instruction in accordance with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), ensuring services are delivered at the frequency and duration specified in each mandate
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to align SETSS math support with core classroom instruction and grade-level curriculum
  • Write and maintain accurate progress notes documenting student response to SETSS intervention, in compliance with NYC DOE and CSE requirements
  • Participate in IEP meetings, annual reviews, and CSE conferences as needed, contributing math-specific progress data and recommendations
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding IEP goals, student progress, and strategies to support learning at home
  • Coordinate with related service providers (e.g., speech, OT, counseling) to ensure a cohesive support plan for each student
  • Motivate students to think critically and take ownership over their own learning
  • Drive academic outcomes by analyzing student work and studying data, and implementing high-leverage instructional moves to ensure dramatic gains for all students
  • Support student and school needs in preparing to be successful on the NYS State Exam
  • Develop strong relationships with parents and students to create investment in school culture and academics
  • Maintain effective and efficient data gathering procedures
  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and collaborating effectively with co-teachers and colleagues

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Masters degree is a plus
  • Special Education certification (Students with Disabilities, grades 7–12 or K–12) required or in progress
  • Familiarity with NYC DOE SETSS delivery models and CSE processes is a strong plus
  • Experience writing or implementing IEPs, including present levels, measurable goals, and progress monitoring
  • K-12 lead teaching experience in a classroom setting is a plus
  • Experience in urban, public charter, or Title I schools is a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA
