  • Reach, Scale & Impact: More than ever, Disney’s technology and products serve as a signature doorway for fans' connections with the company’s brands and stories. Disney+. Hulu. ESPN. ABC. • Innovation: We develop and implement groundbreaking products and techniques that shape industry norms, and solve complex and distinctive technical problems.

Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney’s EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Metadata Tagger to support content enrichment and discovery operations across our streaming platform ecosystem. This role focuses on applying descriptive metadata — including genres, themes, keywords, and other content descriptors — that help power search, recommendations, and overall user discovery experiences.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical and storytelling comprehension skills, experience working with metadata or content operations, and the ability to consistently apply a structured taxonomy to creative works.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze story structure, narrative themes, tone, and “aboutness” of creative works to ensure accurate and nuanced tagging
  • Learn and consistently apply comprehensive controlled vocabulary/taxonomy across all assigned content
  • Ensure metadata accuracy, consistency, and quality across titles and franchises
  • Research and validate metadata where needed to support content discovery and user experience
  • Identify ambiguous tagging scenarios and escalate taxonomy or workflow questions appropriately
  • Work within CMS and metadata management systems to input, review, and publish metadata
  • Meet operational deadlines, throughput targets, and delivery schedules
  • Collaborate with editorial, taxonomy, QA, and operations teams to maintain metadata quality standards

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Experience with metadata tagging, content classification, cataloging, or digital media operations
  • Experience using CMS platforms or metadata management tools
  • Strong understanding of storytelling, narrative structure, genres, and entertainment media
  • Ability to interpret creative intent and identify thematic and contextual elements within content
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established metadata standards and methodologies
  • Comfortable learning and applying large-scale taxonomies and controlled vocabularies
  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and issue escalation skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing deadlines and priorities
  • High School Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in media studies, library sciences, taxonomy management, film/TV analysis, or entertainment operations
  • Experience supporting streaming, OTT, publishing, or entertainment platforms
  • Familiarity with content discovery systems, recommendation ecosystems, or editorial metadata
  • QA or metadata auditing experience
  • Passion for film, television, and storytelling analysis
  • Experience with: CMS Platforms, Airtable, MS Suite, Google Suite
  • Bachelor's Degree
