We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer - Temporary Power Generation & Energy Systems at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.
Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of temporary power generation facilities. This role is responsible for engineering solutions that are safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant with applicable industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of natural gas systems, temporary power infrastructure, and mechanical design principles, while thriving in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Primary Responsibilities

- Design temporary power generation facilities, including equipment layouts, piping systems, fuel delivery systems, cooling systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Develop mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for temporary power projects.
- Apply industry codes, standards, and best practices to ensure designs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of natural gas systems, procedures, installation requirements, and operational guidelines.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, operations personnel, vendors, and customers to deliver integrated power solutions.
- Participate in project planning, design reviews, and constructability evaluations.
- Support field installations by providing engineering guidance, troubleshooting, and technical expertise.
- Review equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to specify and procure mechanical equipment and components.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings, calculations, and project records.
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, standardization, and operational efficiency.
- Support commissioning, startup, and performance testing of temporary power generation facilities

Skills & Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of temporary power generation equipment and supporting mechanical systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of natural gas systems, operating procedures, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
- Experience creating engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with applicable standards such as ASME, NFPA, API, and local building and mechanical codes.
- Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- At least 8 years of mechanical engineering experience (experience with power generation, oil & gas, energy, or industrial systems preferred).Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with mobile or temporary power generation systems.
- Knowledge of diesel and natural gas generator systems.
- Experience with skid-mounted process equipment or modular facility design.
- Familiarity with project management principles and field construction practices
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to visit construction sites and operating facilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project sites (@30% travel) depending on workload and to support project execution.
- Ability to work in industrial environments while following all required safety procedures
