Our range of experience covers the full spectrum of industries, business sizes, and valuation complexity, helping owner-managed companies to large publicly traded corporations. Deep industry expertise allows us to be agile and responsive, bringing in resources from our global accounting and consulting network when required.

This is a new role, and will focus on delivering valuation services while continuing to develop your technical valuation expertise in the following areas:

  • Business Valuations: Manage business valuation engagements for financial reporting, tax planning, compliance, and transaction advisory purposes.
  • Litigation Support: Manage litigation support engagements including family law matters and commercial disputes.
  • Investment Entity Reviews: Support investment entity and investment holding entity reviews in accordance with CBV standards for large enterprise clients and institutional investors, supporting tax planning, compliance, and transaction-related requirements.
  • Fairness Opinions: Support fairness opinion engagements by preparing financial analysis and valuation assessments related to mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Audit Assistance: Support BDO’s assurance practice in assessing the fair value of assets and liabilities, helping ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Instruments: Provide valuation analysis using recognized methodologies and models for complex financial instruments including derivatives, employee stock options, senior debt, and other securities.

In this role, you will also:

  • Collaborate and Support Team Development: Mentor and support junior team members, including CBV students and analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Manage Engagement Execution: Coordinate engagement activities to ensure timely, high-quality delivery within scope and budget while maintaining adherence to professional standards.
  • Perform Technical Valuation Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and valuation modelling using established methodologies to support complex engagements.
  • Prepare Reports and Deliverables: Develop and review valuation reports, presentations, and supporting documentation aligned with professional and regulatory standards.
  • Engage with Clients: Work directly with clients to gather information, understand business drivers, and communicate valuation findings effectively.
  • Support Practice Development: Assist senior team members with proposals, RFP responses, and identifying opportunities to expand client engagements.

How do we define success for your role?

  • You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect and Collaboration.
  • You understand your client’s industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high-quality work.
  • You identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clients.
  • You share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains & attracts talent.
  • You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace.
  • You grow your expertise through learning and professional development.

Your experience and education

  • You have strong business acumen with a demonstrated interest in business valuations, litigation support, corporate finance, and capital markets.
  • You have a solid understanding of valuation methodologies, financial modelling, and financial statement analysis.
  • You have completed a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., accounting, finance, economics, or business).
  • You have 4–8 years of professional experience, including direct experience in valuation advisory, financial modelling, or financial analysis.
  • You are CBV designated or actively pursuing the CBV.
  • CPA or CFA designations are considered assets.
  • You have experience supporting business valuation and litigation support engagements for family law and/or commercial matters (considered an asset).
  • You demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced professional services environment.
  • You bring a collaborative mindset and work effectively within cross-functional teams.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $88,000-$134,000 annually.
