What does Manager Finance Applications – BSS do?

The role leads the Finance technology workstream across the Business Support Systems landscape. It ensures that the large-scale BSS refresh and related automation initiatives fully address accounting, controls, integration, reconciliation and reporting requirements. Working with Finance, Technology, Commercial teams and partners, the incumbent translates business priorities into sustainable solutions while protecting operational continuity.

BSS Transformation and Solution Delivery

·   Represent Finance throughout the BSS RFP, evaluation, design and implementation lifecycle.

·   Convert Finance needs into requirements, future-state processes, acceptance criteria and priorities.

·   Assess impacts on billing, revenue accounting, receivables, settlements, taxation and reporting.

·   Coordinate design reviews, testing, cutover readiness and post-go-live stabilisation.

Finance Applications, Automation and Governance

·   Own the Finance-facing BSS roadmap and align delivery with transformation priorities.

·   Automate billing-to-accounting, order-to-cash and reconciliation activities.

·   Improve integrations between BSS, ERP, data platforms and reporting applications.

·   Drive root-cause analysis and permanent remediation of recurring application issues.

·   Govern scope, risks, dependencies, decisions and partner delivery milestones.

Key Deliverables

·   Finance requirements embedded in BSS refresh design and execution.

·   Controlled interfaces with fewer reconciliation breaks and manual interventions.

·   Timely testing, cutover, adoption and stabilisation.

·   Prioritised roadmap with transparent value, risks and dependencies.

Requirements

Graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant experience in telecom BSS, Finance applications, systems implementation or technology transformation. Exposure to accounting, enterprise architecture, programme delivery or business analysis is advantageous.

Skills: Finance-process understanding; requirements and solution analysis; structured problem-solving; programme and vendor management; stakeholder influence; clear communication; delivery in a high-change environment.

Knowledge: Telecom BSS and billing platforms; Finance integrations; revenue assurance and controls; RFP and implementation lifecycle; testing, cutover, automation and change management.
