Provides proper and regular maintenance of the district’s fleet to ensure student safety; requires implementation of preventative maintenance schedules as well as prioritization and completion of unscheduled maintenance; directly oversees the work of the mechanics team

Incumbent must meet pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements; subject to random drug and alcohol testing, including reasonable suspicion.

  • Reports consistently for work as scheduled
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Attains proficient or higher evaluations on established Performance Standards
  • Assists in the development of appropriate practices related to vehicle specifications and procurement
  • Attends professional meetings, seminars and workshops with supervisor approval
  • Collects, prioritizes, and responds to all daily deficiency reports
  • Develops a consistent, effective schedule to assure that each vehicle and support item undergoes a safety/preventative maintenance inspection on a regular basis, including the State Vehicle Emission Inspections
  • Develops and institutes work area requirements for the maintenance facility
  • Establishes and maintains safety procedures and guidelines
  • Keeps current with Colorado Rules and Regulations
  • Monitors the shop areas and staff members for safe working conditions and practices
  • Qualifies for district's Vehicle Operator License Insurance
  • Returns telephone calls promptly and ensures that appropriate action is taken
  • Reviews tools/equipment requirements and develop systems to ensure items are on hand or on order
  • Road tests vehicles and inspects staff member work as necessary
  • Tracks and documents regular maintenance, defect reporting, road calls, fuel and oil use, and repair history

  • Has visual capacity enabling safe operation of tools and machinery
  • Subject to hazardous conditions of ice and snow while performing duties
  • Lifts or carries burdens up to 50 lbs., and pushes and/or pulls other burdens weighing 50 lbs.
  • Strength and flexibility: stands, climbs, stoops, kneels, bends, crouches, crawls, twists, reaches, sits, navigates on a creeper, and walks while performing duties

Required Qualifications:

Commercial Drivers License (CDL) -Class B - Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Experience in a Mechanical Service Position, High school graduate -high school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification - National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, Commercial Drivers License (CDL) -Class A - Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT)

Compensation Range:

$28.89-30.33
