THE ROLE
We are a highly dynamic, entrepreneurial, and innovation-driven team seeking to hire an exceptional Lab Operations Manager to join our growing team. A successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing laboratory facilities of increasing complexity, vendors, and teams in a fast-paced and dynamic laboratory environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and optimize processes within the lab to increase efficiency and effectiveness, including managing inventory, lab consumables, and chemicals
- Manage the acquisition and maintenance of all major lab equipment, including service contracts, preventative maintenance and calibration schedules
- Oversee lab safety and regulatory compliance, including tracking of biologics, chemicals, and hazardous materials, and enforcing PPE policy and lab safety rules.
- Manage external providers for laboratory support services including: lab supplies, inventory management, facility support, environmental health safety (EHS), and information technology (IT).
- Coordinate annual laboratory permits and license renewals, and laboratory operations deliveries/shipments inside and out of labs, including waste removal
- Manage shipping for domestic and international shipments of lab materials, including the preparation of material for shipment and receiving from external vendors
- Establish lab procedures; create and manage lab-related documentation, and organizational processes such as annual laboratory cleanouts and micropipette calibrations
- Collaborate regularly with scientists to identify and address any workflow bottlenecks, inefficiencies, opportunities for process improvement, and logistical or administrative issues in the lab
- Anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve problems associated with work within the laboratory setting, including occasional off-hours responses to laboratory emergencies
- Own general office operations, including stocking office supplies and coordinating with catering provider to stock cafeteria snack area. Coordinate with Facilities / IT Helpdesk to ensure operation of conference rooms, copy room, and general office area. Coordinate logistics for occasional larger meetings, including catering, transportation, and working with event coordinators.
- Contribute to budget planning, tracking of laboratory and office expenses, and review of service contracts with providers.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in sciences or engineering related fields, or comparable industry experience
- At least 5+ years of relevant experience in lab management
- Experience working in a Biotech/Pharmaceutical laboratory environment
- Experience in multiple areas of lab management, including operations, vendor management, procurement, and safety.
- Knowledge of local, state, and applicable federal regulations relating to lab safety
- Direct experience with LIMS, Laboratory Software, and Enterprise Software Systems
- Great attention to detail, including a proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously, as well as the ability to think strategically and execute methodically
- A high level of initiative, good judgment, and the ability to work with little supervision.

The salary range for this role is $126,000 - $159,500. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Mirai Bio currently offers healthcare coverage, annual incentive program, retirement benefits and a broad range of other benefits.
