About this role 

Join us as a Junior Quality Engineer at Just Eat Takeaway, where you will support the Customer Payments team in maintaining high quality standards for our payment checkout flow. You will enhance the quality of our global payment stack over 12 countries and more than 20 payment methods. This role focuses on enhancing the customer experience and ensuring reliability across Web, Android, and iOS platforms. You will work closely with the team to learn our quality processes, execute tests, utilize AI agents to support your day-to-day testing and quality assurance tasks, and contribute to our automated testing suite.

These are some of the key components to the position: 

• Support the team in improving testing processes and automation, helping us build reliable software in an agile environment.

• Work collaboratively on end-to-end testing initiatives, partnering with developers and other teams to deliver high-quality releases.

• Execute exploratory and automated tests across Web, Android and iOS, identifying opportunities to improve customer experience and reliability.

• Own quality together by identifying, documenting and tracking defects, working with developers to understand issues and find effective solutions.

• Contribute to reliable automated testing by maintaining test suites and supporting coverage across all levels of the test pyramid.

• Help create clear test plans, requirements and test cases for functional and non-functional user stories.

• Support CI pipelines, investigate test stability issues and help ensure our automated tests provide fast, reliable feedback.

• Learn and apply testing best practices, including peer reviews of test scripts, documentation and test approaches.

• Use data, logs and testing tools to understand issues and support continuous improvement across our payment platform.

• Work together to verify functional and non-functional test coverage, helping the team raise the bar with every release.

What will you bring to the team?

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working with engineers and cross-functional teams.

• Curiosity and a problem-solving mindset, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge requirements and look for better ways of working.

• Foundational knowledge of test automation and programming, such as JavaScript, C# or Java, with an interest in developing these skills further.

• Exposure to automated testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright or Cypress, and an understanding of how they support software quality.

• Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP and backend testing, with exposure to tools such as Postman, REST Assured or xUnit.

• Comfortable using Git, GitHub, GitLab or similar source control tools, with an interest in collaborative software development.

• Awareness of performance and load testing concepts, with exposure to tools such as Artillery, JMeter or k6 being beneficial.

• An understanding of Test Driven Development and Behaviour Driven Development practices, with a willingness to learn and apply them.

• A proactive approach to learning and experimentation, with interest in AI tools and agents such as Cursor, Claude Code or Copilot to improve testing and engineering workflows.

• Strong ownership and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently, manage priorities and take responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes.
