Job Description:

Role Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on, travel-ready IT Project Technician II to support the delivery of IT infrastructure and integration projects across our oncology practice networks. Operating with a strong Tier 2 technical skillset, this role executes the on-site work that brings projects to life, deploying and configuring workstations, printers, network hardware, telephony endpoints, and peripherals during practice integrations, office openings, relocations, and refresh initiatives. The Project Technician works under the direction of IT Project Engineers and Project Managers, serving as the primary hands-on technical resource at practice locations nationwide to support the successful implementation of IT projects.

This is a remote-based, full-time position with 50–60% travel. Candidates may be located anywhere in the continental U.S. but must be able to travel by air to practice sites across the country, often for multi-day on-site deployments. When not traveling, the technician supports remote configuration, staging, deployment preparation, and project documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site execution of IT infrastructure projects, including:

  • Workstation, laptop, and peripheral deployments and refreshes

  • Network equipment installation (switches, firewalls, wireless access points) under engineering direction

  • Printer, scanner, and clinical peripheral setup and validation

  • VoIP phone and telephony endpoint deployment

  • Structured cabling verification, rack-and-stack, and IDF/MDF cleanup

  • Travel to practice locations across the U.S. (50–60%) to support practice integrations, go-lives, office openings, relocations, and hardware refresh projects.

  • Serve as on-site hands for remote engineering teams during cutovers, migrations, and troubleshooting.

  • Image, stage, and configure endpoints and hardware prior to deployment, both remotely and on-site.

  • Provide Tier 2-level troubleshooting during and after deployments, including Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, printing, and network connectivity issues.

  • Provide day-one/go-live support to practice staff, including white-glove assistance for clinicians and front-office users.

  • Document completed work, site configurations, asset inventories, and deployment checklists

  • Coordinate with vendors, ISPs, and low-voltage contractors during on-site activities.

  • Follow deployment templates, playbooks, and change management processes; contribute feedback to improve them.

  • Maintain clear, timely communication on task status, blockers, and site conditions to project leadership.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned to help drive our mission of improving the lives of everyone living with cancer.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 4+ years of hands-on IT support experience at a Tier 2 level (desktop support, field services, or infrastructure engineering).

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, endpoint imaging, and printer/peripheral troubleshooting.

  • Experience deploying and physically installing IT hardware — workstations, network gear, phones, and peripherals.

  • Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLAN awareness, patching/cabling standards).

  • Familiarity with enterprise firewall, wireless, VDI, VoIP, or RMM platforms.

  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 50lbs and work in server/network closets as needed.

  • Valid  driver's license and ability to rent vehicles for local travel from airports.

Preferred:

  • Experience documenting work in an ITSM/ticketing system.

  • Experience in healthcare, multi-site, or IT MSP environments.

  • CompTIA A+ or Network+ certification.
