The Opportunity

As an Integration Engineer within Leidos Australia’s Matrix Engineering Team, you will play a key role in modernising and enhancing integration platforms that support critical Defence, Intelligence, and Federal Government missions. Working alongside experienced architects, engineers, and operational stakeholders, you will help deliver secure, resilient, and future-ready integration capabilities across complex environments.

You will:

• Assess existing IBM ACE and IBM MQ environments, develop upgrade and transformation strategies, and guide customers through technical modernisation initiatives.
• Design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-conscious integration architectures that support long-term operational requirements and business outcomes.
• Lead migration, validation, and cutover activities, ensuring service continuity and minimising disruption to mission-critical systems.
• Establish and improve operational practices including monitoring, backup and recovery, governance, automation, and knowledge transfer to support ongoing platform success.

About You

You are an integration specialist who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working across diverse stakeholder groups to deliver practical, reliable outcomes. You bring experience modernising enterprise integration environments and can balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

Essential experience and capability:

• Experience delivering IBM ACE and IBM MQ upgrade, migration, transformation, or platform modernisation projects.
• Knowledge of the IBM integration ecosystem and experience integrating with complementary technologies, including identity and access management solutions such as IBM Verify.
• Capability in scripting and automation using technologies such as Bash, Korn Shell, Python, or similar tools.
• Experience applying DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and Infrastructure as Code approaches.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, operations teams, and customer stakeholders to achieve project outcomes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work within complex and security-conscious environments.

Advantageous experience:

• Experience with containerised platforms and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Experience supporting Defence, Intelligence, Federal Government, or other highly regulated environments.
• Exposure to cloud-based integration platforms, platform governance, monitoring, and operational support practices.
• Experience contributing to technical documentation, knowledge transfer, and continuous improvement initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you must hold or be eligible to maintain an NV2 Australian Government Security Clearance.
