As the Head of AI, you will own the strategic direction and execution of AI and data science initiatives across the organisation. You will work closely with executive leadership, product, technology, engineering, and business teams to identify high-value AI opportunities and convert them into scalable products, platforms, and solutions.
The role requires a strong understanding of the complete AI lifecycle, from data strategy and experimentation to model development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous optimisation. You will also evaluate emerging technologies, including Generative AI and large language models, and identify practical applications that can improve products, operations, customer experiences, and business performance.
You will build and mentor high-performing AI and data science teams while establishing engineering standards, governance frameworks, and best practices for responsible and scalable AI adoption.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the organisation's AI, GenAI, Machine Learning, and Data Science strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Develop a clear AI roadmap covering innovation, experimentation, product development, automation, and enterprise adoption.
- Identify and prioritise high-impact AI opportunities across products, operations, customer experience, and business functions.
- Lead the development and deployment of Machine Learning and AI solutions from concept through production.
- Drive adoption of Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, NLP, and other emerging AI technologies where they create measurable value.
- Oversee data science initiatives involving predictive analytics, forecasting, optimisation, recommendation systems, and intelligent automation.
- Establish scalable frameworks for model development, deployment, monitoring, governance, and lifecycle management.
- Partner with engineering and technology teams to build reliable and scalable AI platforms and infrastructure.
- Evaluate AI technologies, tools, models, vendors, and platforms to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency.
- Establish responsible AI practices covering security, privacy, governance, explainability, bias, and model risk.
- Build, lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams across AI, Data Science, Machine Learning, and GenAI.
- Define technical standards, development practices, architecture principles, and performance expectations for AI teams.
- Collaborate with product and business leadership to translate business problems into data-driven and AI-powered solutions.
- Track AI performance through measurable business outcomes, model performance, adoption, ROI, and operational impact.
- Stay current with developments in AI research, GenAI, LLMs, Machine Learning, and the broader AI ecosystem.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 10+ years of experience across Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, analytics, or related technology domains.
- Proven experience leading AI and Data Science teams and delivering production-grade AI solutions.
- Strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Data Science.
- Deep understanding of ML algorithms, statistical modelling, NLP, predictive analytics, and modern AI architectures.
- Strong understanding of Generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, AI agents, and AI application development.
- Experience taking AI/ML solutions from experimentation and prototyping through production deployment and optimisation.
- Strong knowledge of Python and modern AI/ML frameworks and tooling.
- Experience working with large-scale datasets, data platforms, cloud environments, and ML infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of MLOps, model lifecycle management, monitoring, and AI governance.
- Demonstrated ability to connect technical AI capabilities with business strategy and measurable outcomes.
- Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior leadership and drive organisation-wide AI transformation.
- Strong people-leadership skills with experience building, mentoring, and scaling multidisciplinary technical teams.
- A proactive, innovation-oriented mindset with the ability to evaluate emerging AI technologies and turn promising ideas into practical solutions.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
