Role Purpose
The role will be responsible for the financial management, reporting, analysis, and governance of cell captive insurance arrangements. The role will provide strategic financial insights, manage stakeholder relationships, ensure accurate financial reporting and profitability analysis, and support sustainable growth and value creation for cell owners and shareholders.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and manage financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis for a portfolio of cell captive insurance arrangements.
- Monitor underwriting performance, profitability, capital utilisation, profit-share calculations, and cell owner settlements, providing recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Deliver accurate financial reporting, management information, and insights to support business decision-making.
- Partner with underwriting, actuarial, risk, compliance, tax, and operational teams to achieve business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal governance frameworks.
- Prepare annual financial statements, statutory reports, regulatory submissions, and coordinate external audit activities.
- Maintain strong financial controls, risk management practices, and audit readiness across the portfolio.
- Manage financial accounting activities, including reconciliations, financial records, and supporting documentation.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, monitor performance against budget, and recommend corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, systems, and operational efficiency.
- Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships through a collaborative, service-focused approach.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members to build capability and drive high performance.
- Promote knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and professional development within the finance team.
- Optimise the use of people, processes, systems, and resources to support business and financial objectives.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant bachelors' degree
- CA(SA) qualification with a minimum of 3 - 5 years' post-articles experience.
- Insurance experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of cell captive business models and profitability drivers.
- Sound knowledge of IFRS, Insurance accounting, Regulatory reporting, Taxation, and Financial controls.
- Experience managing Audits, Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial reporting
- Strong analytical, commercial, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate financial information into actionable business insights
