What would you do? We are looking for a SCADA Consultant with strong expertise in Alarm Harmonization to join our automation services team. The ideal candidate will lead client-facing projects to review, rationalize, and optimize alarm systems in SCADA environments across various industries. This role requires both technical depth and excellent communication skills to deliver alarm management solutions that improve operational effectiveness and comply with industry standards like ISA-18.2 and EEMUA 191.
What are we looking for? • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Instrumentation, or a related discipline. • Exposure of working with SCADA systems in a consulting, integration, or service capacity. • Proven experience in alarm rationalization and harmonization projects. • Strong knowledge of industry alarm standards: ISA-18.2, EEMUA 191. • Familiarity with SCADA platforms such as Wonderware, GE iFIX, Ignition, WinCC, Schneider EcoStruxure, etc. • Experience working with multiple clients and managing project deliverables. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in a client-facing environment. • ISA Alarm Management Certification or similar. • Experience across various sectors (e.g., Utility, Power, oil & gas, manufacturing). • Skilled in alarm data analysis using tools like OSIsoft PI, Power BI, Excel, etc. • Understanding of control system integration and PLC/RTU communication.
Roles and Responsibilities: • Work with external clients to assess and existing SCADA alarm systems. • Facilitate alarm rationalization workshops, gathering input from client stakeholders (operations, safety, engineering). • Develop tailored alarm philosophy and standardization documents for each client. • Define and implement best practices for alarm prioritization, shelving, suppression, and escalation. • Configure alarm parameters and logic within various SCADA/HMI platforms to align with harmonization goals. • Analyze alarm data (historian or live) to identify nuisance alarms, alarm floods, and improvement opportunities. • Provide recommendations for alarm thresholds, deadbands, and annunciation strategies. • Generate reports and KPIs to track alarm system performance pre- and post-implementation. • Train client teams on alarm management tools, practices, and standards. • Ensure deliverables meet project timelines, budget, and compliance requirements.
