The Director of Financial Reporting will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reporting activities. Reporting directly to the SVP of Accounting, this role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization. Additionally, the Director of Financial Reporting will be responsible for overseeing technical accounting matters, ensuring compliance with evolving standards, and providing expertise on complex accounting issues. This is a full time hybrid position on our team with the expectation to be in office 2-3 days per week at our NYC Office. Occasional travel may be required for team or company events/meetings.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the Accounting leadership to oversee the consolidation of financial results across Spring Health’s business units.
- Lead the research, interpretation, and implementation of new accounting standards and regulations, providing technical accounting guidance to the Finance team and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical accounting support for complex transactions and business initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, new product offerings, revenue recognition, and equity-based compensation.
- Collaborate with Sales and other cross-functional teams to review new contract terms and determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
- Develop and implement financial reporting and technical accounting policies, procedures, and best practices that improve the efficiency, accuracy, and consistency of financial reporting.
- Oversee compliance with state-specific financial reporting requirements, including the preparation, review, and timely submission of required regulatory filings.
What success looks like:
- Monitor and communicate changes in accounting standards and regulations, particularly those impacting the healthcare sector.
- Provide guidance and support to the finance team, ensuring accurate and consistent financial reporting and technical accounting across the organization.
- Coordinate and prepare audit schedules, working closely with external auditors to ensure smooth and efficient audits.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports and presentations for senior management and external stakeholders.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; active CPA license or equivalent certification required.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience, including 3 or more years focused on financial reporting and technical accounting within a public company environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and healthcare-related regulatory requirements.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems and reporting platforms, preferably NetSuite and Workiva; familiarity with Oracle applications or comparable systems is a plus.
- Extensive experience researching, interpreting, and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, particularly Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
The target base salary range for this position is $153,750 - $207,460, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including equity and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using Radford Global Compensation Database at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
