Sobre esta vaga de Communications and Government Relations Specialist na K2 Space

K2 Space · Presencial · Washington, D.C.

K2 is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, unlocking performance levels previously out of reach across every orbit. Backed by over $1 billion in total funding from leading investors including Altimeter Capital, ICONIQ, Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Redpoint Ventures, and T. Rowe Price — and with over $1 billion in signed contracts across commercial and US government customers, we're mass-producing the highest-power satellite platforms ever built for missions from LEO to deep space.

The rise of heavy-lift launch vehicles is shifting the industry from an era of mass constraint to one of mass abundance, and we believe this new era demands a fundamentally different class of spacecraft. Engineered to survive the harshest radiation environments and to fully capitalize on today's and tomorrow's massive rockets, K2 satellites deliver unmatched capability at constellation scale and across multiple orbits.

With multiple launches in 2027 and plans to scale to 100 satellites a year, we're Building Bigger — helping develop the solar system and build toward a Kardashev Type II (K2) civilization. If you are a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and you're excited about contributing to the success of a high-growth Series D-funded company, we'd love for you to apply.

The Role

K2 Space is seeking a Communications & Government Relations Specialist to support our strategic communications and government relations efforts in Washington, DC. This role will provide logistical, operational, and public affairs support across both functions — helping plan and execute communications and government relations campaigns that advance K2's mission and policy priorities. You'll work closely with the Strategic Communications Director on major announcements and day-to-day media efforts and support the Director of Congressional Affairs on targeted government relations initiatives. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in congressional, government agency, or think tank work who wants to help build the communications and government relations function of a fast-growing space company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Strategic Communications Director on media efforts, communication materials, and major company announcements
  • Support the Director of Congressional Affairs on targeted government relations efforts, including meeting prep, briefing materials, and follow-up
  • Assist with planning and executing communications and government relations campaigns, including content creation and timeline planning
  • Help create and manage visual assets, including promotional and announcement videos, official photographs, and website content
  • Monitor K2-related news and relevant stories to drive communications feedback and shape company communications campaigns
  • Identify speaking opportunities and coordinate conference attendance, and maintain a strategic calendar of these engagements for K2 leadership
  • Manage association memberships and track sponsorship opportunities
  • Draft and edit talking points, briefing documents, press materials, and other written products
  • Monitor relevant news, legislative activity, and policy developments to keep leadership informed
  • Coordinate with congressional offices, government agencies, and other external stakeholders as needed
  • Support event planning and execution for briefings, Hill visits, media engagements, speaking opportunities, VIP visits to K2’s headquarters, and other public affairs activities
  • Manage the DC office customer relations management tool and mailing list
  • Provide general operational and administrative support to the Strategic Communications and Congressional Affairs teams

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience supporting strategic communications and/or government relations
  • Experience with using customer relations management (CRM) tools
  • Background providing logistical, operational, or public affairs support for a congressional office, government agency, or think tank
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A start-up, can-do mentality
  • Based in the Washington, DC area (Rosslyn, VA), with occasional travel to K2 Space headquarters in Torrance, California and other locations as needed

Nice to Have

  • Existing relationships with congressional staff, agency contacts, or press
  • Experience with media monitoring and press outreach
  • Experience supporting a startup or fast-scaling organization
  • Familiarity with the space, defense, or aerospace policy landscape

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $150,000 + equity in the company
  • Salary will be based on several factors including, but not limited to: knowledge and skills, education, and experience level
  • Comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, paid parental leave, and many other perks

If you don’t meet 100% of the preferred skills and experience, we encourage you to still apply! Building a spacecraft unlike any other requires a team unlike any other and non-traditional career twists and turns are encouraged!

If you need a reasonable accommodation as part of your application for employment or interviews with us, please let us know.
