What You Will Do

As a Combustor Aerothermal Engineer I at Pratt & Whitney you will......

• Work closely with our experienced engineers on projects that contribute directly to the development and optimization of advanced combustor systems.
• Perform simulations of combustor components and assemblies to evaluate performance (e.g. computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, etc.)
• Support experimental testing and data analysis for combustor components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Combustors department.
• Document findings and present results to engineering teams.

What You Will Learn

• This position offers exposure spanning various aspects of combustor design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing processes. 
• Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months - 9 months - 9 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney. 

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date. 
• Coursework in at least one of the following areas: fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, combustion, propulsion, turbulent flow, or numerical methods
• Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks) and CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, Star CCM+).
• Previous internship or project experience related to gas turbine engines or combustion systems.
• Familiarity with experimental testing techniques and data acquisition systems.
• Coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and combustion.
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
