• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Adheres to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

• Facilitates communication and collaboration within the department to enhance workflow and efficiency.

• Transports contaminated and sterile surgical instruments and supplies to and from operating rooms and patient care areas.

• Decontaminates and inspects surgical instruments for cleanliness and defects to ensure patient safety.

• Keeps instruments and supplies organized and in designated locations to maintain department cleanliness and productivity.

• Inspects and assembles instrument trays according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.

• Serves as a resource expert and mentor for less experienced Sterile Processing staff.

• Monitors sterilization practices to ensure compliance with standards and keeps accurate records of sterilizer loads.

• Utilizes knowledge of sterilization parameters and takes corrective action if parameters are not met.

• Attends continuing education seminars and in-services on new equipment and instrumentation to maintain competency.

• Participates or leads in department Performance Improvement projects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Sterilization Standards [Required]

• Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation [Required]

• Knowledge and practice of infectious control techniques and medical terminology [Required]

• Basic Computer skills [Preferred]

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]

• High School Grad or Equiv [Preferred]

• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• Eighteen (18) months Sterile Processing experience - Maintains educational requirements as outlined in the organizational checklists [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required]

OR

• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required]

AND

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
