Job Description:
Job Summary**
As a Cans Front End Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimization of can manufacturing equipment, specifically focusing on the "front end" processes of the production line. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring continuous operation and high-quality output.
Job Responsibilities**
* Perform preventative maintenance on all front-end can manufacturing machinery, including presses, cuppers, body makers, trimmers, and washers, according to established schedules and procedures.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production equipment, implementing effective and lasting repairs.
* Execute emergency repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
* Install, adjust, and calibrate new or refurbished machinery and components.
* Collaborate with production operators to identify and resolve equipment-related production issues and improve efficiency.
* Document all maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and time spent, accurately and thoroughly.
* Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
* Train and mentor junior mechanics or production staff on basic equipment operation and maintenance.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Job Qualifications**
* Proven experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing environment, preferably with specific experience in can manufacturing or high-speed production lines.
* Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
* Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical (up to 400V), pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
* Familiarity with various hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and welding techniques (a plus).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Relevant technical certification or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
* Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment.
