Position : Bookkeeper / Accounting Assistant
Salary : Php 75,000 - 100,000 ($1,800 - $2,400 AUD a month)

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper & Assistant Accountant to join our growing team.
This role is primarily focused on end-to-end bookkeeping, while also providing support across financial reporting, Australian tax compliance, and management reporting as capability develops. The successful candidate will work closely with senior accountants and will have opportunities to broaden their technical accounting skills over time.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting Australian accounting firms and be confident working within Xero and Australian compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Administration (Primary Focus)
- Perform end-to-end bookkeeping for a portfolio of Australian clients
- Maintain accurate financial records within Xero
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and month-end journals
- Ensure client bookkeeping records remain accurate and up to date
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management reports for clients
- Extract financial data from Xero for reporting purposes
- Assist with financial statement preparation
- Review financial information for completeness and accuracy
- Support month-end and year-end reporting processes
Australian Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS
- Assist with preparation of income tax workpapers
- Compile tax return documentation for review
- Support preparation of Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations where required, particularly for property-related clients
- Ensure compliance with Australian accounting and taxation requirements
- Publish completed work to Xero Practice Manager for review
Client Support & Practice Administration
- Support senior accountants with client work and compliance deadlines
- Liaise with clients to obtain outstanding information and documentation
- Maintain organised client records and working papers
- Assist with accounts reviews and quality assurance processes
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the practice

- Xero (essential)
- Xero Practice Manager (XPM)
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace
- Australian accounting and tax software
Please note: This role will not require direct access to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) portal.
Requirements
Key Requirements
- Previous bookkeeping experience within an Australian accounting practice
- Strong working knowledge of Xero
- Understanding of Australian bookkeeping and tax compliance requirements
- Experience preparing BAS and IAS
- Experience preparing management reports and financial statements
- Strong reconciliation and accounts review skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
- Exposure to Australian income tax return preparation
- Experience reviewing bookkeeping work before accountant review
- Relevant accounting qualification
