Who We Are
The Audit Manager will strengthen Renmoney’s financial control, audit readiness and reporting environment.
The role will take ownership of the coordination of external audits and regulatory financial reviews; oversee the effectiveness of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR); support accurate and timely Group reporting; and drive improvements in finance processes, systems and controls.
The position will also play a key role in Finance transformation initiatives, including the implementation of an ERP and the development of a more automated, scalable and well-controlled finance function.
The Position
As the Audit Manager, you will take ownership of the coordination of external audits and regulatory financial reviews, financial controls, Group reporting, and Finance transformation initiatives.
What You'll Do
1. External Audit Management
- Lead the Finance team’s coordination of the annual external audit and other statutory assurance engagements.
- Act as the primary Finance interface with external auditors.
- Coordinate audit requirements across Finance and relevant business functions.
- Maintain a comprehensive audit request and issues tracker, with clear owners and deadlines.
- Ensure information submitted to auditors is complete, accurate and provided within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate management responses to audit findings.
- Track all audit adjustments, control deficiencies and recommendations through to closure.
- Identify recurring audit issues and ensure permanent remediation rather than year-on-year repetition.
- Drive improvements aimed at reducing the operational burden and duration of the annual audit process.
2. Internal Audit & Regulatory Reviews
- Coordinate Finance’s participation in Internal Audit reviews and ensure timely provision of requested information.
- Coordinate Finance-related requirements arising from CBN examinations and other regulatory reviews.
- Maintain a central register of Finance-related regulatory and audit findings.
- Ensure agreed remediation actions are assigned, monitored and closed within committed timelines.
- Escalate overdue or material findings to the CFO and relevant management committees.
- Ensure Finance remains continuously prepared for regulatory and assurance reviews rather than responding reactively when reviews commence.
3. ICFR & Financial Controls
- Own and coordinate the Finance ICFR framework.
- Maintain documentation of key financial processes, risks, controls and control owners.
- Ensure key financial controls are performed and evidenced on a monthly basis.
- Conduct regular testing and monitoring of control effectiveness.
- Identify control gaps and agree remediation plans with responsible owners.
- Maintain evidence supporting management’s assessment of the effectiveness of ICFR.
- Ensure appropriate controls exist around journal entries, reconciliations, financial close, revenue recognition, provisioning, expenses, fixed assets, taxation and other material financial processes.
- Support continuous strengthening of the Bank’s financial control environment.
4. Group & Management Reporting
- Support the preparation and review of regular Group reporting packages.
- Ensure consistency between statutory accounts, management accounts, regulatory reporting and Group reporting.
- Maintain appropriate reporting controls, supporting schedules and audit trails.
- Provide analytical support to the Head of Finance on material accounting, reporting and control matters.
5. Finance Operations & Process Improvement
- Provide senior-level support to Finance operational activities, particularly during periods of intensive audit and regulatory activity.
- Review existing Finance processes and identify opportunities for simplification, automation and stronger controls.
- Improve the quality and timeliness of reconciliations and financial close processes.
- Reduce dependence on manual spreadsheets and manual interventions.
- Establish clear process ownership, documentation and control standards across Finance.
- Work with Technology, Operations, Risk and other functions to resolve systemic Finance and control issues.
6. ERP & Finance Transformation
- Play a leading Finance role in the selection and implementation of an ERP/financial management system.
- Document Finance business and control requirements for the ERP.
- Support process redesign, data migration, testing, reconciliation and implementation.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls and segregation of duties are embedded into the system design.
- Identify opportunities to automate reconciliations, reporting, consolidation and control monitoring.
- Support the CFO in developing a scalable Finance operating model as the Bank expands its products and Group activities.
Requirements
What You Bring
Experience
- Minimum of 6 –12 years’ relevant experience in audit, financial control, accounting or financial reporting.
- Strong experience within a Big Four audit firm is highly desirable.
- Experience auditing or working within banks, financial institutions, fintechs or other regulated financial services businesses strongly preferred.
- Experience at Assistant Manager/Manager level or above within a leading audit firm would be advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience managing complex statutory audits and multiple stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting.
- Practical experience with ICFR, financial controls and control testing.
- Experience dealing with regulatory examinations, preferably including CBN requirements.
- Experience with Group reporting, consolidation and intercompany accounting.
- Exposure to ERP implementation or Finance transformation projects would be a significant advantage.
Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent recognized professional accounting qualification.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
