Position Overview
Putnam is seeking a talented, detail-oriented, and proactive Assistant Manager to support the management and execution of consulting engagements within its growing Specialty Practice. This practice leads strategy consulting projects across CVRM, Autoimmune, and Neurology therapy areas.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving project delivery, including issue identification, hypothesis formulation, workstream planning, analysis, synthesis of insights, and development of actionable recommendations. The role requires strong scientific and analytical thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to deliver high-quality outputs efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
As an Assistant Manager, the individual will act as a central hub for engagement initiatives, providing thought leadership, guiding project teams, and ensuring alignment across workstreams. The candidate will also play a substantive role in client relationships, helping address client queries, manage expectations, and support successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Lead and manage key workstreams across consulting engagements
- Provide thought leadership and strategic input throughout the project lifecycle
- Guide analysts and senior analysts in research, analysis, and synthesis
- Own client queries and ensure timely, high-quality responses
- Support project planning, execution, and delivery against timelines
- Play a substantive role in project-based client relationships
- Translate complex scientific, clinical, and market information into clear recommendations
- Ensure quality, consistency, and efficiency across deliverables
- Contribute to team development, coaching, and capability building
Desired Skills and Experience
- Postgraduate (M Pharm/ MBA with graduation in Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Science) with 5-7 years of experience OR PhD in Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Pharmacology with 3-5 years of experience
- High-level of comfort working with Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong in analytical, data driven acumen
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced growth-oriented environment
