Your Experience

• 6+ years in software engineering, with at least 3 years focused on building, shipping, and maintaining production mobile applications.
• Expert-level iOS development skills, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality apps at scale.
• Hands-on experience building complex mobile applications with rich, performant UIs — experience in global consumer-facing products is a strong plus.
• Deep proficiency in Swift; working knowledge of Objective-C and solid object-oriented design principles.
• Strong familiarity with Apple's ecosystem — frameworks, HIG guidelines, and end-to-end App Store submission and maintenance processes.

The Role:

Proton is a mobile-first company building an Internet that respects privacy and puts people, not advertisers, first. As an engineer on our Apple team you’ll build and ship features across Proton’s apps on iPhone, iPad and macOS, working closely with product and engineers across the company to define what “great” looks like on Apple platforms. Our codebase is primarily Swift with some Go, and we’re moving to a platform-independent Rust logical core that communicates with Swift via a generic interface, so Rust experience is a strong plus. Quality is central to the role: you’ll contribute to and maintain our testing stack, including unit tests for business logic, stubbed API tests for pseudo-integration, snapshot tests for UI and XCUITest for end-to-end user flows. As our iOS Test Automation Engineer, you’ll be the guardian of app quality. You will:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. You will have the opportunity to develop, optimize and expand tools used to create the majority of mobile games. You will contribute to team deliverables and collaborate with other engineers.

• Maintain and improve existing features
• Design and build new features
• Follow best practices to write clean, cross-platform code, cover functionality with tests, and provide clear documentation
• Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including product, QA, customer support teams, to ensure their requirements are met

What you'll be doing

You'll be responsible for:

• Lead and scale a team of 5+ engineers and organise work towards the product vision
• Work closely with the development team and Product Manager to deliver business value in a timely manner while following and improving upon established quality metrics.
• Orchestrate technical aspects of the product development
• Implement the most suitable development processes (principles, rules) for the team
• Coach the team to learn and apply engineering best practices in various areas starting from UI standards and CI/CD to API design and Secure SDLC
• Continue to form and grow your team – hire and onboard new members, perform training activities, help team members to follow their path for professional growth 
• Solve or escalate issues within and outside the team
• Ensure healthy collaboration with other teams, identify and manage technical and organisational dependencies
• Support an environment of transparency by providing prompt feedback, both gently and honestly

Your Experience

Must have:

• 6+ years of experience in one of the following programming languages: Scala, Java, Kotlin, Objective C/Swift.
• Experience in designing and implementing robust distributed systems
• 4+ years of team management: establishing processes in a cross-functional team, building tech roadmaps, experience in change management
• People management skills – providing one-on-ones, resolving conflicts, creating career development plans, mentoring and growing engineers
• Extensive knowledge of engineering practices and Agile methodologies 

Nice to have:

• Full-stack development experience
• Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices
• Outstanding communication skills
• Experience building consumer or client-facing products
• Understanding of A/B testing techniques
