The team:

We are looking for a Senior Performance Engineer to lead our efforts in making Proton VPN the fastest, most resilient, and most reliable VPN service in the world.

You will define and drive the measurement, analysis, and optimization of Proton VPN’s end-to-end performance, across clients, platforms, and global infrastructure. You’ll help ensure that every connection is fast, stable, and private, regardless of where the user is or what network they’re on.

What you will do: 

• Design and own Proton VPN’s performance framework, defining metrics and KPIs that reflect the real-world experience of users (time-to-connect, throughput, latency, stability, reconnection rates, etc.).
• Develop distributed testing systems that simulate real network conditions, including low bandwidth, packet loss, and high-latency scenarios.
• Continuously measure and analyze performance across platforms (desktop, mobile, backend) and regions to identify bottlenecks and regressions.

Job requirements: 

Technical Skills

• 5+ years of experience in performance engineering or systems QA, ideally in networking, VPNs, or distributed systems.
• Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, TLS, WireGuard, debugging, manipulating, and performance profiling tools.
• Proven ability to analyze latency, throughput, and stability metrics across multiple layers (client, OS, transport, application).
• Proficiency in Python (or similar scripting language)
• Familiarity with network emulation and simulation tools (e.g., tc/netem, iperf, IPTables/nfTables…).
• Experience with monitoring and observability stacks (Grafana, Prometheus, Loki) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Cross-platform experience with Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and iOS preferred.

We are seeking a Director of Engineering to one of our existing or upcoming Products. This role involves setting and executing technical strategy, team management, and working closely with your senior product managers counterparts, to ensure high-velocity delivery of new products.

Purpose of the role: 

As the Engineering Manager for Proton VPN, for the iOS and MacOS team, you lead a team of engineers dedicated to fostering continuous innovation in our applications. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams across Proton. The Role:

Proton is a mobile-first company building an Internet that respects privacy and puts people, not advertisers, first. As an engineer on our Apple team you’ll build and ship features across Proton’s apps on iPhone, iPad and macOS, working closely with product and engineers across the company to define what “great” looks like on Apple platforms. Our codebase is primarily Swift with some Go, and we’re moving to a platform-independent Rust logical core that communicates with Swift via a generic interface, so Rust experience is a strong plus. The role:

As an engineer on our small Windows VPN team, you will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and evolving Proton’s applications on Windows. Our codebase is primarily written in .NET and WinUI (C#/XAML), and we are building and integrating cross‑platform logical core libraries written in Rust.

Software quality is central to this role. You will help define, maintain, and improve our testing stack, which includes unit tests, integration tests, and automated GUI tests (using FlaUI).

What we are looking for:

• Strong experience in C# and .NET development.

• Strong experience building and maintaining Windows desktop applications using frameworks such as WinUI, WPF, or similar.

• Solid understanding of MVVM architecture, dependency injection, asynchronous programming (async/await), and event‑based messaging patterns.

• Proven ability to write maintainable, well‑tested, and scalable codebases.

• Demonstrated experience driving change within an organization and leading complex technical projects

• A strong understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices.

• An appreciation for user experience and design quality.

• Rust experience is not required but is a significant plus.

• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing concepts) and an interest in VPN technologies and protocols.

• Experience with code debugging, profiling, and performance optimization on Windows.

• Familiarity with Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) and modern collaborative development practices.

• Experience with gradual rollout, and observability tooling (telemetry, metrics, monitoring and alerting).

Head of Data will bridge the gap between autonomous product squads and a centralized data vision. Head of Data is the architect of our data culture, ensuring that while analysts sit within different business units, they operate with a common language, world-class tools, and uncompromised data integrity.

Strategic Leadership & Governance

• Unified Data Strategy: Define and execute a global data roadmap that aligns with company-wide OKRs.
