One of our CG projects is seeking a Matte Painter for a short term contract (6 weeks) and/or for an hourly part-time contract.

- Applicants must have resided within BC as of December 31, 2025 and be able to provide the appropriate supporting documents.
- All Atomic employees in this role have the opportunity to work remotely within BC, artists within Vancouver and the Lower Mainland can also choose hybrid and in-studio options.
At Atomic Cartoons and Blue Ant Studios, we take into consideration a wide range of compensation factors including background, skills, location, and experience to determine competitive pay. In addition to competitive pay, this position is eligible for company-sponsored benefits including medical, GRSP, vacation pay, paid holiday break, paid leave, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Please note: This expected pay range is for British Columbia and is not applicable to locations outside of the province of British Columbia.
Wage ranges are based on a weekly rate.

Sony Imageworks Vancouver is seeking Texture Artists!
As a Texture Artist, your responsibilities include maintaining consistency in artistic direction, collaborating with different departments, and addressing challenges related to texturing. Additionally, you contribute to the development and improvement of texturing processes within the pipeline.
Responsibilities:
● Work with other asset departments to create realistic or stylised textures for 3D assets of various styles and complexities
● Collaborate with Lookdev artists to achieve the desired look
● Follow the project's art direction and style guides, and contribute your own ideas and suggestions
● Deliver high-quality work on time and participate in reviews
● Communicate effectively with team members and proactively bring up suggestions and issues
● Address feedback notes and take initiative to improve the work both artistically and technically
● Ensure quality and accuracy for all work passed to downstream departments
● Maintain references and use proper colorspace workflows
● Solve problems and assist other artists with technical issues
● Work within the show's framework, structure, and pipeline, and propose new ways to improve the work and workflow
What we need to see
● A portfolio that showcases strong artistic skills and technical abilities
● Basic understanding of shading, lighting, and rendering techniques
● Proficient knowledge of software packages such as Mari, Substance Painter, Photoshop, Maya, Mudbox, ZBrush, and Substance Designer
● Basic Nuke experience a plus
● Basic knowledge of Linux/UNIX and basic shell scripting
● Good knowledge of Katana and Lookdev
● Proficient knowledge of UV mapping and PBR workflows
● Good understanding of colorspace
● Strong problem solving, organization, communication, and teamwork skills
● 2 - 4+ years of production experience
The anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $25.96 to $34.62/hr and for an Intermediate position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr. The Senior Texture Artist, bringing 5-8 years of experience, assumes a leadership role in the creation of visually compelling textures. In addition to creating high-quality textures, responsibilities include mentoring junior artists, conducting quality control assessments, and addressing complex artistic and technical challenges in texturing. Your deep understanding of advanced texturing techniques contributes to maintaining the highest standards of visual quality across projects.
Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with other asset departments to come up with the best approach to achieve desired results
● Work with modeling team to troubleshoot and correct UV layouts
● Create and design textures of any style for complex assets
● Follow the art direction and style of the project, but also take an active role in helping to establish the overall look.
● Work with the Leads and Supervisor to ensure the style and the look of the show are consistent and high-quality
● Deliver exceptional work on time and participate in reviews, providing feedback and ideas to improve the work
● Address feedback notes while pushing the asset look beyond expectations
● Organize your work and help maintain organization with other artists on the project
● Optimize complex paint setups and help other artist optimize their work
● Mentor junior and intermediate artists
● Maintain and ensure quality control for your work and others
● Ensure that reference and colorspace is accurate for all of your work
● Color correction of live action reference or other reference art
● Solve difficult problems and assist other artists in problem solving
● Build upon templates to deal with unique asset requirements
What we need to see
● A portfolio that showcases exceptional artistic skills and technical abilities
● Good understanding of shading, lighting, and rendering techniques
● Expertise in Mari, Substance Painter, Photoshop, Maya, Mudbox, ZBrush, and Substance Designer

Qualifications:
Knowledge of Photoshop, Maya and Nuke is required. Knowledge of other tools such as Katana, Mari, Houdini, Speedtree or Linux is a plus. Most desired 2 year diploma or 1 year certificate however minimal requirement of 2-3 years of relevant experience may be accepted.
The anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $26.49 to $35.29/hr and for an Intermediate position is $36.06 - $48.08/hr.
