Who We're Looking For - Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer you will be responsible for developing software solutions that support the Data Platform, Analytics, and Digital Transformation initiatives at Clearlink through a multi-disciplinary approach including elements of Software Development, applied Data Science, and Big Data. Additionally, the Senior Data Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining Big Data pipelines that provide enterprise access to company data and guides more junior team members.

The Impact You Will Make

• Adheres to Clearlink policies on ethics and integrity.
• Under minimal supervision, develops software applications in varied and challenging technical domains and takes ownership over multiple assigned projects on a technical level; programming specializations include real time streaming, Web-based user interfaces, data visualization, PCI security, cloud services, multi-media, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.
• Leverages Data Science tools and techniques to provide business insights from large, unstructured datasets.
• Assembles and analyzes large, complex datasets that meet business requirements.
• Builds the infrastructure required for extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using relational, document, graph, and data lake technologies.
• Models problem domains in relational, document, and graph technologies as required.
• Creates data tools for analytics and data scientist team members.
• Works with architects/software development and UX teams to develop processes and applications.
• Creates, evaluates, and deploys machine learning models to provide real-time predictions to improve business processes.
• Creates programming modules and performs software development tasks (design, development, testing, maintenance) as part of a development team.
• Creates websites, web-based dashboards, and data visualizations that enhance the organization’s ability to understand data and make decisions.
• Builds analytics tools that interface to a data pipeline to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics.
• Creates scripts, jobs, monitors, and interfaces to facilitate deployment and productization of applications and solutions.
• Implements internal process improvements, including automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability.
• Creates functional and technical documentation including dashboard design specifications, operating manuals, release notes, and security requirements for reports created and maintained.
• Performs quality assurance testing of User Interfaces, Application interfaces, code and processes.
• Analyzes, troubleshoots, and solves development and production software

What You Bring

• MINIMUM Education Requirement: Master's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems, Engineering (any), or related field.
• MINIMUM Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience in Information Systems, Software Development, or related, not including internship and school assistant positions.
• ALTERNATE Education/Experience Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems, Engineering (any), related field, and five (5) years of experience in Information Systems, Software Development, or related, not including internship and school assistant positions.
• ALTERNATE Requirement: Seven (7) years of experience in Information Systems, Software Development, or related, not including internship and school assistant positions.
• Big Data, Machine Learning, AI, and Analytical Technologies.
• Enterprise and web-based software development and experience creating and deploying enterprise applications.
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Experience building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
• Experience with Object Oriented/Programmatic ETL/Data Integration Workflow Management Services
• Experience in fintech related work (managing and building out comprehensive finance kpis, financial data pipelines, applying financials to operational / transactional events and financial data sets)
• Experience in web development technologies including in one or more of the following: HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, or GraphQL
• SQL
• Experience in one or more web application platforms (e.g., Flask, ASP).
• Experience in Application development in one or more of the following: Python, R, C#, java, JavaScript, Golang.
• Solving problems using Analytical and Data Science methods: modeling, clustering, Machine Learning, AI, and others.
• Application and Data Security.
• Experience with cloud services: Data Lake, Enterprise Queues, Machine Learning, AI, DevOps, etc.
• Streaming Technologies.
• Experience with relational SQL, NoSQL, and Graph databases such as Neo4j, Document DB, and
  others.

About your role

Rocket Lawyer is looking for a motivated and passionate AI/ML Software Engineering Intern to join our team working on Rocket Copilot, our AI assistant launched in December 2023. In this internship, you will collaborate with our cross-functional teams to assist in building a cutting edge AI platform. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced engineers while working on real-world AI/ML projects, helping design, implement, test, and maintain new AI features.

Responsibilities

• Assist in prompting, evaluating, fine-tuning, and maintaining large language models (LLMs) for AI features
• Support the creation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of backend API services that interact with ML models
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI into existing and new Rocket Lawyer products
• Research and stay up-to-date with industry trends around generative AI and machine learning
• Prototype product features to explore new AI capabilities and write clean, understandable code

What you’ll need

• Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and algorithms.
• Familiarity with generative AI technologies and models (Deep Learning, RAG, Neural Networks, Agents).
• Interest or experience working with large language models (LLMs) and generative AI.
• Strong programming skills in Python

A bonus if you have

• Experience with backend Python frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, Django, etc.
• Familiarity with vector databases.
• Additional programming skills in languages such as Java, Kotlin, or NodeJS.
• SQL knowledge.
