We operate in the enterprise segment, serving nonprofit organizations across North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Europe.

We’re building a large and complex product ecosystem that serves nonprofits, donors, and partners around the world. The platform includes a modern checkout experience and customizable widgets (each a standalone SPA), donor, organization, and partner portals, admin tools, and several internal apps.

Our backend is powered by Node.js (Koa, NestJS) and MongoDB. The frontend stack includes Webpack, Vue.js, and React, with nearly all code written in TypeScript. For high-throughput messaging and background processing, we use Kafka (for millions of events) and Bull (Redis). Analytics data is stored in ClickHouse, and we use Elasticsearch for search.

The Team

We are a distributed team of 160+ product professionals, including 80+ engineers. Our team members are mainly based across Spain, Poland, Portugal, Georgia, Armenia, Serbia, Turkey, and Cyprus. Many of our developers bring 5 - 10+ years of experience, and we foster a culture of deep technical curiosity and knowledge sharing.

About the Role

You will join a small team responsible for the stability, performance, and security of our server infrastructure: bare metal, VMs, databases, queues, networking, and infrastructure security. Our philosophy is simple: the team owns its systems end-to-end, and every engineer should be able to diagnose and fix issues in their area of responsibility.

This role is for someone who enjoys working with real infrastructure (OS, hardware/virtualization, networks), not just cloud abstractions.

What You'll Do

• Work primarily with on‑premise infrastructure (bare metal and VMs): setup, maintenance, troubleshooting
• Drive clarity in ambiguous situations by defining requirements, assumptions, and next steps
• Own automation projects end‑to‑end (design → rollout → maintenance)
• Improve how we operate: harden and tune systems and also improve the way the team works in terms of operational hygiene
• Keep the platform stable, fast, and secure: servers, web servers, databases, queues
• Investigate production incidents across OS / networking / infrastructure layers, apply temporary mitigations, coordinate with developers and participate in post‑mortems
• Participate in on‑call rotations
• Use AI in all aspects of day‑to‑day work: researching, troubleshooting, developing

Requirements

• 4+ years as a DevOps Engineer / SRE (or very close responsibilities)
• Real, hands-on experience with servers (VMs, bare metal) at the OS level and below: configuring, troubleshooting, digging into “why it’s broken”
• Confident Linux skills (we use Ubuntu). We expect you to be comfortable with the core tools from Linux Crisis Tools
• Solid understanding of networking basics; ability to configure and troubleshoot iptables
• Ansible + Git
• Experience with Bash or Python scripting for automation/observability
• Production/on‑call experience: diagnosing incidents, restoring service, participating in post‑mortems
• Ownership and attention to detail. Downtime is expensive: five years ago, 10 minutes of downtime cost us $100k — today it’s even more

Nice to Have

We understand it’s impossible to be an expert in everything, but it’s important to have solid hands-on experience in two or more of the areas below:

• ClickHouse, MongoDB: what each database is used for, monitoring, troubleshooting performance and slow queries, sharding
• Kafka: operating clusters at scale (topic moves, broker replacements, tuning)
• Redis: high‑load tuning, replication, sharding, performance monitoring
• Elasticsearch: configuration, scaling, sharding/cluster management
• HAProxy / Nginx: load balancing, SSL/TLS, caching, reverse proxying, performance monitoring
• OS tuning: kernel/network stack/filesystem parameters for high‑load systems
• Full Disk Encryption on LVM: We use Clevis + Tang in production
• Infrastructure Security: Teleport, HashiCorp Vault

About this role:

You are a hands-on engineer who builds the software and processes that keep a large fleet of GPU servers healthy and productive. You write systems and tooling for managing 1000s of servers including  provisioning, health monitoring, error detection, and recovery — and when something breaks that automation can’t fix, you drive resolution with partners.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain Python fleet tracking system that manages the full lifecycle of servers including contracting and procurement, target use, pricing, availability, health, RMAs, etc
• Build server management tooling that automates provisioning, health checks, GPU diagnostics, recovery and alerting
• Create and maintain metrics, dashboards, and alerting for hardware health across the fleet (GPU errors, disk failures, network issues, thermals)
• Leverage AI to an extreme level to build tools and automate alerting and recovery
• Implement and enforce OS-level security: hardening baselines, SELinux/AppArmor policies, SSH key management, vulnerability scanning, and compliance automation
• Manage and optimize distributed and local storage systems supporting model weights, checkpoints, and ephemeral scratch: NVMe arrays, NFS, parallel file systems, and object storage
• Tune Linux systems for AI workloads: kernel parameters, NUMA topology, CPU pinning, hugepages, I/O schedulers, and GPU driver stack optimization (NVIDIA drivers, CUDA, container runtimes)
• Develop a suite of automated error detection and recovery processes
• Work with partners to solve technical issues

Requirements

• 3+ years experience managing bare-metal and cloud based server fleets at scale (100+ nodes)
• Strong software engineering skills in Python; you write production tooling, not scripts
• Deep Linux systems knowledge: boot process, kernel tuning, networking, storage, systemd, cgroups, namespaces, performance profiling
• Strong experience with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code: Ansible, Terraform, cloud-init
• Solid understanding of storage technologies: LVM, RAID, NVMe, NFS, Lustre or GPFS, and Linux I/O stack tuning
• Familiarity with hardware diagnostics and failure modes (GPUs, NVMe, NICs, memory)
• Experience building internal tools or dashboards for infrastructure visibility
• Excellent communication and ability to drive technical decisions across teams
• Self-starter who executes quickly, takes ownership, and constantly seeks improvement

Nice to have

• Familiarity with network configuration and diagnostics (VLAN, VXLAN, ECMP, BGP, tcpdump)
• Experience with NVIDIA GPU infrastructure: driver management, health monitoring, DCGM, NVLink/NVSwitch diagnostics, RDMA, InfiniBand/RoCEv2
• Experience with AMD GPUs
• Experience with bare metal and VM provisioning (PXE/iPXE, Kickstart, libvirt, Qemu/KVM)

As we continue on this transformation journey….  This role will carry out the effective and efficient everyday technology operations for WPP ET.  A trusted pair of hands to deal with level 1 and 2 issues as they present to the IT Service Desk and a trusted resource for Infrastructure and Management personnel to assist with project work when needed. The role will report into the Enterprise Technology Operations Lead and work closely with other teams within Enterprise Technology.

What you'll be doing:

• Deliver world class, on-site support services to WPP employees, agencies, and visiting clients, operating within predefined structure, methodologies, and standards set by WPP ET
• This is a 100% onsite role
• Provide on-site support to the WPP agencies 
• Provide onsite support for additional locations which may require travel (where applicable)

• Provide remote support, as needed, to WPP agencies across the wider region
• Ensure IT deskside operations and all standard technology services, including meeting room AV, are delivered and supported as needed

• Develop excellent relationships with the business user base
  • Lead a customer-centred culture, championing activities to empower end users to get maximum utilization out of their technology tools
  • Educate the business on how to use the Enterprise Technology service and maximise benefits
  • Log all IT engagements into a ticketing system to ensure IT demand and performance data can be reported upon
• Onboarding and offboarding of new and departing employees, including user account administration and asset management
• Level 1 and 2 incident and problem management, including diagnosis, liaison with appropriate internal and external resources to drive resolution, and ticket management throughout the resolution process
• Ensure security procedures are followed, and 3^rd parties are monitored during service engagements
• Escalation of issues to Infrastructure and/or Management teams as required
• Manage and support simple user and office relocations
• Understanding of unique line-of-business technologies
• Compiling, documenting, and maintaining Service Desk knowledge base and standard procedures
• Deployment of hardware and software to end users
• Management and installation/removal of break/fix or warranty replacement of IT related equipment
• IT asset procurement, inventory and Life cycle management

• Work with all the IT functions within the Enterprise Technology operating model to ensure the needs of the business are fulfilled

• Support WPP Global in promoting global standards and ensuring local implementation
• Support other IT teams with IT changes and ensure support priorities are localised and executed to plan

• Escalation management and work with third-party suppliers to ensure operational services meet business requirements
• Perform basic device troubleshooting including resetting devices, cable management, providing console access for 3^rdlevel teams/partners as part of Incident break fix or scheduled changes
• Perform/be accountable for infra testing pre/post deployment of changes through either Incidents or Projects; liaise with local application owners for additional testing
• Facilitate and support refresh of local infrastructure (network and server)
• Support the review of local licencing demand for software assets
• Availability where necessary for out-of-hours support other duties as required
