Who we are

The role

At Helsing we develop and deliver AI-based capabilities and the enabling infrastructure that allow semi-autonomous platforms to localise, navigate, and perceive the world in real time. We build software that is subject to significant and unorthodox technical constraints, must operate in a wide variety of constantly-changing environments, and has to support an ever-growing list of challenging use-cases. What we build ultimately ends up in the hands of real people in high-risk, high-stress situations, so must be both reliable and frictionless. Taken together, this brings a whole host of interesting engineering challenges across a wide variety of fields that you’ll help us solve. To give some examples:

• Distributed systems (e.g., intermittent connectivity and byzantine actors)

• Embedded computing (e.g., resource-constrained compute and reverse-engineering)

• Robotics (e.g., control systems and tasking)

• Networking (e.g., long-range low-bandwidth radios and cross-medium routing)

• Deployment infrastructure (e.g., air-gapped devices and heterogenous fleets)

• Security (e.g., data sharing in low-trust, no-TLS networks and actually-secret data handling)

• Machine learning (e.g., systems for model development, storage, and dissemination)

In several of these areas, we are working near the state-of-the-art; we actively read (and sometimes implement) research papers, and often need to push even further to make theory work in practice. In others, we are applying well-known techniques to real-world situations (with real-world limitations) that have never been used in before, which requires skill, diligence, and honing a deep understanding of the underlying technologies.

The day-to-day

• Review code contributions, proposals, and RFCs from colleagues. At Helsing we strongly believe that unblocking others takes precedence over spending more time on your own work.

• Propose and implement new features, capabilities, algorithms, infrastructure, or even full products across our stack. We encourage our engineers to look beyond their immediate team for missed opportunities, and to speak up when they identify one.

• Become a mentor, find a mentee, and help support and develop our interviewing pipeline. The people make or break the company, and we want as many engineers as possible to be part of fostering and growing the organisation.

• Share your experience and technical know-how with other Helsingers. We host tech talks, get together for smaller “let’s learn together” groups, run topical office hours (e.g., on Rust), etc. to help each other get better with time.

• Maintain our existing software stack, including working with internal and external customers to identify issues, improving operational reliability and performance, and fending off technical debt. The stack is a mix of Rust and Python, with Python mainly living in the ML-heavy sections.

• Further develop our tests and benchmarks, both at the micro and macro level. We operate in a domain where robustness is of the utmost importance, and an extensive and ever-improving test suite is key to achieving that. And without thorough benchmarks, we would be flying blind.

• Present your work at our weekly demo sessions. We want engineers to come together around what they are working on and to feel like they are not endlessly squirrelling away at something that doesn’t matter. To that end, we host (and actively work towards) demo sessions that allow early feedback, celebration of progress, and a better shared understanding of everything that goes on at Helsing.

You should apply if you

• Can write legible, maintainable, and performant code.

• Communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Are comfortable working asynchronously (writing PRs and RFCs, having discussions by email).

The Role  

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining high-quality software solutions that support our evolving platform. Our team in Stockholm build products that are used by multiple API customers and travel agencies, enabling easy, accessible and frictionless rail ticketing across Europe. 
 
Working closely and cross-functionally, you will help translate business requirements into scalable, reliable technical solutions. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and system design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization, all while applying best practices in code quality, maintainability, and performance. 
 

You will work in a collaborative Agile environment, actively participating in Sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. As a senior member of the team, you will bring strong technical expertise and a passion for clean, maintainable code while contributing to architectural discussions, mentoring teammates, and continuously improving engineering practices. You will help ensure that new features meet the Definition of Done and that each Sprint delivers meaningful, high-quality value. 

Key Responsibilities  

• Analyse requirements and translate functional specifications into well-designed, scalable software components. 

• Design, implement, and maintain application features, contributing to both backend and frontend solutions. 

• Write clean, readable, and maintainable code that follows established engineering standards and best practices. 

• Develop and maintain comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure reliability and maintain strong test coverage.

Required Competence and Skills 

• Strong knowledge and experience with Java 17+, Spring and Spring Boot frameworks. 

• Experience running microservices in the cloud, specifically with AWS, Docker and Kubernetes. 

• Experience of Hibernate and relational databases including MySQL.    

• Experience building JSON and XML based APIs. 

• Strong knowledge of RESTful principles.  

• Experience with UI technologies including JavaScript/TypeScript 

• Experience with UI frameworks including React.JS 

• Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) environment. 

• Familiarity with design patterns, SOLID and TDD

The role

Mentimeter is looking for a Product Engineer to join our Payments team and help shape how customers pay for and manage their subscriptions.

The Payments team owns the checkout experience, billing systems, subscription lifecycle, and integrations with payment providers like Stripe. We work on reducing friction in critical customer journeys - from initial signup through renewal and cancellation. We're also thinking bigger: exploring more flexible billing models, improving how we handle invoicing and financial reporting, and building the infrastructure to support Mentimeter's growth.

The technical landscape is distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and complex integrations. We partner closely with Product, Finance, Sales, and Support to balance customer experience with business requirements. This is a team that works together -pairing, mobbing, and bringing diverse perspectives to problems that matter.

The role

Mentimeter is looking for a Product Engineer to join our Identity team and help shape how users and organizations authenticate, access, and manage their presence across our products.

The Identity team owns the enterprise-grade identity surface of Mentimeter: SSO and SAML authentication, SCIM-based user provisioning, domain control, and email verification among others. Our mission is to create intuitive, scalable solutions for identity management of users and participants - lowering the threshold for enterprises to start adopting our enterprise offering with minimal support. That means everything from a first-time user signing in seamlessly, to enabling organisations of tens of thousands to onboard into their workspace smoothly through automated provisioning and access management.

Beyond our own systems, we act as an enabling function for other teams - advising on standardized authentication practices across Mentimeter’s products, and ensuring that both internal and external integrations follow consistent, secure patterns.

The technical landscape spans distributed systems, security-sensitive flows, and deep integrations with identity providers. We partner closely with Product, Security, Sales, and Support to balance user experience with enterprise requirements.
