What you will do:

• Design, build, and evolve test automation frameworks and internal tooling (Playwright + TypeScript as primary stack)
• Act as owner of the test ecosystem, including repositories, architecture, and long-term maintainability
• Define and enforce testing standards, guidelines, and best practices across engineering teams
• Enable developers to write effective tests by providing abstractions, utilities, and reusable components
• Drive test architecture decisions (structure, layering, fixtures, data handling, isolation strategies)
• Collaborate with teams to improve testability of systems (APIs, frontend, data flows) without directly owning feature tests
• Own and optimize CI/CD test pipelines (e.g., Jenkins), focusing on speed, reliability, and scalability
• Identify systemic issues (flakiness, instability, slow feedback loops) and implement structural solutions, not patches
• Design and maintain test data management and environment orchestration strategies
• Define, implement, and evolve quality gates and metrics (coverage, reliability, execution time, signal quality)
• Support teams in debugging complex failures by providing observability and diagnostic tooling
• Explore and integrate AI-driven testing capabilities to improve productivity and test robustness
• Mentor engineers and promote a quality engineering mindset across the organization

Who you are:

You Must Meet These Critical Qualifications (Mandatory requirements to be listed here)

• 2 to 5 years of experience
• Strong experience as an SDET / Quality Engineer with a focus on frameworks and tooling, not just test implementation
• Excellent programming skills in TypeScript / JavaScript
• Proven experience designing and maintaining test frameworks at scale
• Hands-on experience with modern automation tools (Playwright preferred)
• Strong understanding of test architecture patterns (test pyramid, separation of concerns, isolation strategies)
• Experience enabling teams through libraries, SDKs, or shared tooling
• Solid experience with CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins), including pipeline optimization and debugging
• Experience with API testing (REST/GraphQL) and designing reusable testing layers

We're building an AI copilot for web testing automation. It enables manual and automation QA engineers to turn their manual testing flows into production-ready automated E2E testing scripts, saving hours of manual work and coding. We are a small team with zero bureaucracy, focusing on real users. We optimize for shipping value - not hype.

About the role:

You'll own the top of the funnel: outbound, qualification, and getting leads to sit down for a conversation. Demos, onboarding, and retention are staying with the founder for now.

Phase one: Get individual Automation QAs to try the product, aiming for fast adoption and no procurement. Once we hit 20+ weekly users, we’ll move on to phase two, where we’ll shift the focus to B2B – qualified meetings with QA Leads and Engineering Managers.

Your focus in the first three months:

• Build targeted lists: Automation QAs at companies with web products and Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium in their stack.
• Run outbound sequences (LinkedIn is the baseline, but you decide the channels). A/B test weekly.
• Design qualification gates (forms and scoring) to filter leads before the founder calls.
• Reach 20+ weekly active users after month one – ICP-qualified and giving direct feedback to engineering.
• Document what works into a repeatable playbook.

Growth path:

This role expands as your strategies deliver results. Once the user pipeline works, you can take over demos and run B2B sales end to end. From there, the natural next step is Growth Lead (funnel optimization and scaling the playbook) or Account Executive (owning deal execution).

• Have proven cold outbound results, instead of being dependent on warm inbound.
• Be able to talk credibly about flaky tests, CI pain, and Playwright vs. Cypress. You don't need to be an engineer, but you do need domain empathy.
• Possess strong written communication skills, with the ability to craft short, sharp messages that get replies.

Nice to have:

• A QA or SDET background – you've felt the pain yourself before moving to sales or BD.
• Exposure to security/compliance objections – enough to pre-empt and route.
• Content skills – your LinkedIn posts get engagement, not just your DMs.

About the Team

The Core Engineering team is responsible for working on the beloved ClickHouse open-source project while working cross-functionally across engineering and product teams as we develop and expand our Cloud service offering. We are seeking a Senior Software Quality Engineer who will focus on improving the efficiency and quality of both our open-source and cloud offerings. You will build out automation of critical operational functions that ensure ClickHouse Cloud operates smoothly worldwide and at our massive scale. The ideal candidate for this position is someone with strong technical skills and a background in release engineering.

What will you do?

• Build and enhance test automation frameworks and develop automated test cases.
• Try out new features and ensure they land smoothly in Production.
• Test cross-functional implementations across internal teams at ClickHouse.
• Implement new testing strategies and automation for large and complex distributed systems.
• Evaluate the new functionality of ClickHouse for each release, and identify opportunities in the existing codebase for improvement.
• Engineer and improve existing testing infrastructure.

About you:

• Extensive knowledge of SQL.
• Previously worked in a similar SDET, Release Engineering, or QA role related to a classical database or distributed system.
• Have hands-on experience with any programming language (Python, Go, C++).
• Can read C++ code for validation.
• Working knowledge of Git, Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience with both manual testing and automation testing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, including with remote teams. Ability to learn complex technology quickly in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.
