Your role and responsibilities
Software Development Quality & Standards
- Participating in regular code reviews
- Standardisation of technologies, approaches, and architectures across teams
- Active engagement with the development teams on all areas of software development
Agile Collaboration & Team Enablement
- Liaise with agile coaches and product owners in order to resolve team impediments

You are an ideal candidate if you have
- At least 7 years of work-related experience as a Software Engineer or Software Developer
- Ideally have an IT Diploma or Degree
- Ability to develop software in .Net 8 C#, Javascript, ReactJs, HTML, CSS and other programming languages (polyglots preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of Postgres, Mssql technologies (EF, NHibernate)
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as Redis, Riak, MongoDB, and others.
- Experience developing web applications, with a good understanding of how the web works
- Proven experience in high-scale applications and an understanding of the practices and approaches that are employed in scaling applications beneficial.
- Experience with unit testing, knowledge of applying test-driven development beneficial
- Understanding DevOps principals and how to apply them practically beneficial.
- Experience in cloud services preferred – AWS, Azure.
- Experience with containerisation (Docker, TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, Appveyor) highly beneficial.

- Lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or related UI frameworks), C#, XAML, and — when needed — C++.

We are looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to help scale the industrialization of our ML lifecycle. This is a Builder’s Role - you will be responsible for the high-scale architecture that allows our models to survive production. You’ll be a key contributor to our MLOps ecosystem, moving beyond experimentation to build high-throughput, distributed systems that serve as the backbone of our intelligence products.
Machine Learning Engineers help us extract value from our data. They are involved in all the processes from data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing, to training models and deploying them to production. This position will assess, analyze, and organize data, execute tests, and optimize the learning process to develop high-performance machine learning models.
Responsibilities:
- Develops software using the KnowBe4 Software Development Lifecycle and Agile Methodologies
- Designs, develops, and researches Machine Learning systems
- Transforms data science prototypes by applying appropriate Machine Learning algorithms and tools
- Performs statistical analysis and using results to improve models
- Inference Engineering: Drive the deployment and optimization of both standard predictive models and LLM architectures, balancing trade-offs between low latency, high throughput, and cost-efficiency
- Platform Hardening: Transition research prototypes into resilient, production-ready microservices that can handle massive traffic
- Lifecycle Orchestration: Execute automated pipelines for data and model versioning, validation, and retraining

About the role:
As a Platform Security Engineer, you are a developing security professional building expertise in securing cloud-native infrastructure, container platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and product services within the Platform Engineering organization. You take ownership of moderately complex security tasks with increasing autonomy while receiving guidance on architectural decisions and strategic direction. Your focus is the security posture of our platform and product infrastructure — the container orchestration layer, service mesh, observability stack, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure that engineering teams build and deploy on.
You implement and maintain security controls, build standardized security processes for engineering teams (vulnerability management, production security checks, secure build pipelines), support penetration testing and SOC operations for the product environment, contribute to compliance-related activities from the product security perspective, and help embed security practices into the developer experience through tooling and documentation.
You are building depth and maturity in infrastructure security, application security, and shift-left practices needed to progress toward a senior platform security role.
Your contribution will be:
- You implement and maintain security controls across the platform, including container orchestration security policies, network segmentation, role-based access controls, and admission control mechanisms.
- You manage container image scanning and enforce image policies in CI/CD pipelines and cluster admission, ensuring only vetted and signed images reach production environments.
- You support infrastructure-as-code security scanning using policy-as-code tooling, flagging and remediating misconfigurations in infrastructure definitions before they reach production.
- You maintain and improve secrets management workflows, ensuring rotation policies are enforced, access is audited, and no secrets are hardcoded or exposed in source code or configuration.

To be successful, we think you need:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, DevSecOps, application security, or related field.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure or AWS).
- Working knowledge of container orchestration security concepts in Kubernetes: pod security, role-based access control, network policies, admission controllers.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and understanding of how to secure IaC workflows.

This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager (Logistics).
We are an energetic team that is fully responsible for all the systems required to support the Takealot Group's delivery network as well as the unique challenges that come with logistics and scale. We have adopted a microservices architecture to both isolate our logic and to enable scale. We follow the event-driven architecture as well as utilize a graph database to model our delivery network. We are currently working through unique problems in the logistics space and are actively researching the usage of the actor model design pattern and graph traversal optimization.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
- Developing and optimizing systems to manage both parcel and food delivery throughout South Africa
- Working with business to improve processes to allow for more efficient deliveries
- Researching and defining solutions within the logistic domain
- Working predominantly on open source platforms
- End-to-end ownership of solutions
