About the role

We are seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join the Devices Hardware Engineering team. Based in Shenzhen, you will be our team’s first EE hire in Asia, serving as a critical bridge between our headquarters and our manufacturing partners. You will develop and lead exciting new products (set-top boxes, streaming players, remotes) through the complete design lifecycle, from initial concept to mass production (MP).
The successful candidate will be an energetic, self-starting team player who can manage multiple projects and thrive during rapid development cycles. You will possess the expertise and determination to ensure projects stay on target regarding design, quality, schedule, and cost.

What you'll be doing

• Design Ownership: Own the complete electrical system (BOM/Schematics/PCB) for new products.

Role Overview

You’ll join a nimble, global group of UI, UX, and industrial designers, tackling tough problems like ensuring our brand feels cohesive across iOS and Android, even as we push new features out at warp speed. What You'll Do

• Part of the comprehensive design lifecycle for new experiences across mobile OS and native applications, from initial concept through to successful implementation.
• Conceive, create, and deliver precise design specifications that guide engineers from vision to reality.
• Collaborate directly with global engineers, product managers, and fellow designers to craft innovative solutions and integrate new software features.
• Conduct user research and prototype testing to validate ideas rapidly, ensuring our designs truly resonate with real users.

The Job:

• Own the end-to-end software architecture for 3D printers and post-processing equipment, encompassing embedded firmware interfaces, device control, and application/cloud layers.

• Lead the design and development of reliable, real-time control software for precise motion, thermal management, and sensor integration on Linux-based embedded systems.

• Drive the development of user-facing software, including desktop applications, web interfaces, or mobile apps for device control, print management, and monitoring.

• Establish and maintain software development best practices, including code architecture, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation.

• Collaborate closely with Hardware and Product teams to define system requirements and ensure seamless hardware-software integration.

• Build, mentor, and manage the software engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.

• Manage the software development lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, stable releases.

You:

• Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 2+ years in a technical leadership or team management role.

• Strong expertise in C/C++ development for real-time or performance-critical systems, with proven experience in embedded Linux environments.

• Experience with software architecture design for complex electromechanical devices (IoT, robotics, CNC, or 3D printers is a strong plus).

• Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, Modbus) and hardware/software interfacing.

• Experience with modern software practices (version control, code review, CI/CD, testing).

• Knowledge of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or UI frameworks (Qt, React, etc.) is advantageous.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.

• Good command of English is preferred.

The Job:

• Lead the electronics design of 3D printing and related products
• Full-stack design, able to go from concept to initial prototype and mature the design to mass production. Ownership of designs throughout the product life cycle
• Make EE architecture decisions and tradeoffs while observing all facets of a design, including cost, reliability, flexibility, etc to achieve business goals.
• Ensure soundness of designs by performing necessary engineering calculations and experiments.
• Design for wired and wireless connectivity options such as Wifi, Bluetooth, Ethernet
• Design that involves physical sensors and actuators. 
• Write basic code to test the functionality of designs. 
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, validating, debugging, and reworking boards

You:

• Have a minimum of 2 years of experience designing and debugging electronics.
• Are an electrical engineering generalist, comfortable with analog and digital design, PCB layout, validation, and debugging techniques
• Have at least basic familiarity with embedded systems (microcontroller firmware developed in C/C++, embedded Linux) or another software engineering discipline.
• Familiarity with consumer electronics standards and certifications
• Experience in the consumer electronics industry 
• Working knowledge of English: Able to read and write documentation. Able to understand and present technical ideas verbally.
