Scopely is looking for a Senior Engineer to serve on and elevate our new casual game, Monopoly GO! team and work from Sevill on a hybrid basis.

The Monopoly GO! team is one of our key franchises and has just become one of Scopely’s largest games. The teams sit globally, with the bulk of their members located throughout Spain and the US.
What You Will Do
- Working closely with feature owners, the game design team and other development teams to implement new features within a feature team
- Work with game client developers to implement networked communications between game client and server
- Design and develop our game server and associated tools and libraries, with a focus on performance, scalability and consistency
- Write automated, high-quality tests (unit, integration etc.) and work with QA teams to improve gameplay experience, curtail exploits and ensure that everything works smoothly
- Implement tools to empower our liveops and game design teams in the creation of new and exciting game-play experiences
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years as part of a professional game development team or other relevant area
- BA or Computing Degree
- Strong computer science and engineering fundamentals (data structures, concurrency, design patterns, algorithms)
- Mastery of Unity and C# or another OO language, including experience with asynchronous and multi-threaded programming paradigms
- Hands-on experience with cloud computing (AWS, GCP...) and low-latency, high-scale distributed systems
- Knowledge of Unix-like operating systems
- Experience with Redis (or other database systems), ORMs and migration scripts
- Ability to write efficient low-latency, low-IO code
- Good understanding of how to prevent intrusions, injections, cheating etc.
Bonus Points
- Familiar with highly available back-end systems and servers for games
- Web development on a modern framework such as React or Angular
- AWS, Docker, Terraform, Kibana, Chef, Ansible
- Experience with automated testing
- Experience with stateful and stateless game server architectures

Mission of the role
You will be part of the team responsible for operating one of the largest and most complex hosting platforms in Europe.
Your mission will be to ensure the stability, performance, and evolution of the Stretch platform, working directly on critical production systems and contributing to the continuous improvement of a highly distributed infrastructure.
This is a strongly technical role with hands-on impact at scale, where your work will directly influence service quality and platform evolution.
You will collaborate closely with Hosting Technology teams and other web hosting teams within IONOS, with frequent interaction with international colleagues—particularly in Germany—to consolidate knowledge of existing systems.
Responsibilities
- Operation, maintenance, and evolution of large-scale Linux infrastructure.
- Advanced (Level 3) support for complex platform incidents.
- Automation of processes using scripting (BASH, Python) and infrastructure tools.
- Operation and management of distributed storage systems (Ceph).
- Monitoring and analysis of the platform using observability tools (Grafana and similar).
- Continuous improvement of system architecture and stability.
- Collaboration with international teams to absorb knowledge from legacy systems.
- Participation in on-call rotation.
Professional profile
Must have
- +3 years of experience in Linux system administration.
- Strong scripting skills in BASH and Python.
- Experience with configuration and automation tools:
- Puppet or SaltStack
- Ansible or Terraform
- Hands-on experience operating Ceph storage clusters in production environments.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana.
- Fluent English, required for international communication.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Experience with container technologies (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience in highly distributed or high-availability environments.
