Cloud Engineer
Amsterdam/Rotterdam, hybrid

JOB PURPOSE
This role is part of our Experience & Engineering team based in the Netherlands. We combine our skills in developing future-ready technical solutions with our expertise in creating beautiful designs to deliver exceptional and engaging digital experiences that build lasting relationships with our clients like Gant, Inter Milan, bol.com and Just Eat Takeaway.
We are looking for a Cloud Engineer who can build the best cloud platforms for our clients and project teams and can maintain our existing solutions in the smartest way possible. Someone who can switch gears quickly and knows how to come up with automatic workflows to help our teams to accelerate in their work.
As a Cloud Engineer, you search together with your colleagues for the best solutions which you independently translate to the perfect end result. You are responsible for building next level cloud platforms and setting up CI/CD pipelines. You work closely with your SRE colleagues to handover the operations to them. You know how to create long-term simplicity and automate everything so your team can deliver quality to our clients. Technology is transforming fast and that is why we are looking for someone who is eager and motivated to work and experiment with new techniques.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the infrastructure implementation/migration process from sprint 0 to go-live;
- Collaborate to support a smooth integration and long-term operational efficiency;
- Ensure best practices are established and deliver high quality work;
- Collaborate effectively with our clients teams, including developers questions, to facilitate cross-team communication and ensure a seamless transition;
- Troubleshoot and solve technical issues that may arise during the implementation/migration;
WHAT YOU BRING
- Previous experience a Cloud Engineer (or similar role);
- Multi-cloud platform experience (Microsoft Azure, AWS and/or GCP);
- Experience with DevOps tooling for CI/CD, orchestration and monitoring like Azure DevOps, GitHub, Datadog, Cloudflare etc.;
- Understanding of Cloud Security & Networking;
- Experience with Infra-As-Code (i.e. Terraform);
- The ability & ambition to take ownership of your projects;
- Working proficiency of English;

Responsibilities
- Build relationships. Present, demonstrate, and support selling Esri software and solutions as part of the account team. Gain access to technical enterprise-level decision makers and lead technical meetings that drive revenue.
- Be an expert. Be a technical leader of Esri technology as well as a subject matter expert of the AEC and Utilities industry. Demonstrate your advanced understanding of sales strategies and initiatives to develop complex solutions for Esri’s most strategic customers. Understand an organization’s business structure, associated workflows, third party business systems, and integration points. Share knowledge and coach new team members on best practices.
- Solve problems. Proactively craft and propose solutions that clarify how GIS brings business value to our customers by addressing the critical challenges they face. Define and deliver complex strategies that align Esri technology with our largest customers’ business needs.
- Tell our story. Design presentations for technical and non-technical audiences within Esri’s largest customers. Provide configuration guidance and best practices. Present at large conferences and executive engagements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with Esri technology creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and configuring web applications
- 3+ years of experience in AEC or Utilities across the Europe region
- Broad knowledge of ArcGIS from an IT context (such as hardware, storage, security, networking, web services, virtualization, cloud computing)
- Demonstrated experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design
- Understanding of sales and business development processes
- Ability to troubleshoot client issues related to Esri application deployment and system architecture
- Experience with geodatabases and underlying DBMS technology
- Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and environments (Microsoft Azure or AWS)
- Experience integrating software solutions with other business systems including data warehousing, BI, CRM, ERP, and analytics platforms
- Programming and scripting experience with languages such as Python and JavaScript,
- Remarkable presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally 25-50%
- Bachelor's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience incorporating real-time information streams with existing GIS data and IT infrastructure
- Knowledge of digitalization strategies that include mobile, IoT, advanced analytics and data science (AI/ML), and imagery
- Thought or technical leadership experience in AEC or Environmental Consulting
- Master's degree in geography, computer science, or a related field
- Experience with advanced ArcGIS Models such as linear referencing, utility network, parcel fabric, or imagery and reality mapping
