Due to our growth ambitions, we are looking for a talented Credit Risk Underwriting Modeller to join our Riga office. In this hands-on role, you will help improve how we assess credit risk and ensure the profitability of our products by developing and refining statistical models used in credit decisioning.

You will work closely with credit risk specialists and technology teams, combining data, business understanding, and modeling techniques to build effective underwriting solutions. In this role, your work will have a direct impact on business performance. By improving credit decision models, you will contribute to better risk management and stronger profitability—playing a key role in shaping data-driven decisions across the organization.

What will you be doing?

• Develop, improve, and maintain statistical models used in credit underwriting.
• Own the end-to-end modeling process: from data collection and preparation to model development, validation, and monitoring.
• Analyze and combine internal and external data sources to enhance model performance.
• Continuously monitor models and optimize them for accuracy, risk management, and profitability.
• Collaborate with the technology team to improve automated credit decision systems (decision engine, data integrations, workflows).
• Work closely with credit risk underwriters and product managers to translate business needs into effective modeling solutions.
• Prepare analytical reports and ensure clear model documentation and transparency.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in credit risk modeling.

 Ideally, you would have:

• 3+ years of proven experience in a similar role (statistical, predictive, or data modeling); experience in fintech or banking is a plus.
• Solid understanding of statistical methods and machine learning techniques, with the ability to apply them in practice.
• Strong analytical mindset and confidence working with complex, real-world datasets.
• Strong SQL skills, with hands-on experience in data extraction and manipulation.
• Proficiency in Python, R, or similar tools.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Clear communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
