IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking an experienced, passionate educator to join our team as a Science Curriculum Designer and help shape our exceptional K–8 science content.
As a Science Curriculum Designer for the Print & Instruction team, you’ll help guide the development of worksheets and activities for elementary and middle school science (grades K–8) for Education.com, working with contract writers and worksheet creators to produce engaging, high-quality materials. Your strong writing skills, educational insight, creative solutions, and commitment to quality will make personalized learning a reality for millions of students.
This position requires you to be in our Raleigh, NC, area office. #LI-EM1
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Work with contractors to develop high-quality science worksheets and activities for elementary and middle school science (grades K–8) for Education.com
- Help identify and prioritize topics for new resource creation
- Coordinate, review, and edit content, ensuring that written materials are effective, well written, fun, accurate, and age appropriate
- Ensure visual designs are clear, engaging, and meet quality standards
- Monitor and maintain the quality and organization of the existing Education.com library of materials
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D in Science
- Middle school, high school, or collegiate science teaching or tutoring experience
- Ability to work across multiple scientific disciplines such as life science, earth science, physical science, and engineering
- Experience in curriculum development or instructional design is a plus
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong analytical-reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Can-do attitude with an openness to others' ideas
- Ability to be efficient and organized while working on multiple projects simultaneously
- Interest or experience in graphic design is a plus

In this role, you'll help craft exceptional educational experiences for Takeoff, IXL's breakthrough new core curriculum. You'll lend your specialized knowledge and expertise in K–12 math education to help the curriculum design team create engaging, interactive math lessons for elementary and early secondary students. Your strong writing skills, creative problem solving, educational insights, and commitment to quality will make personalized learning a reality for millions of students.
This position requires you to be in our Raleigh, NC, area office.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Design creative, engaging, interactive math lessons both online and in print
- Write rigorous and mathematically correct content
- Consult with other curriculum designers to ensure content is age-appropriate and meets educational objectives
- Collaborate with visual designers, curriculum managers, and company leaders to determine appropriate instructional approaches
- Research and apply content requirements across many states
- Develop and manage project plans to create and deliver high-quality math content
- Ensure all project milestones are achieved within set deadlines
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in a math or education-related field required - advanced degree preferred
- K–12 math teaching experience - experience as math coach or math supervisor preferred
- Excellent writing ability
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design
- Can-do attitude with an openness to others' ideas
- Highly self-motivated and efficient with superb attention to detail

Math Curriculum Designer, Assessment Focus

IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking an experienced, passionate educator to join our team as a Math Curriculum Designer and help shape our growing suite of K–12 math assessments.
This position requires you to be in our Raleigh, NC, area office.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Write and review clear, engaging assessment items to address specified educational objectives in 6–12 math
- Review assessment items for clarity, writing quality, typos, formatting, and mathematical accuracy
- Write achievement level descriptors and other assessment documentation
- Collaborate with curriculum designers, psychometricians, program managers, and company leaders to determine assessment scope and approach
- Coordinate with contracted item writers, editors, and visual designers to create and deliver high-quality assessment items
- Research and analyze content requirements, including state educational standards
- Assist with other math curriculum design projects as assigned, such as creating and reviewing standards alignments and writing and reviewing math problems for IXL's learning activities
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's in Mathematics strongly preferred - Master's or Ph.D. in Mathematics is a plus
- 2+ years' experience writing items for widely-used assessments required; assessment writing for statewide or national assessments strongly preferred
- K–12 math teaching or tutoring experience
- Excellent writing ability
- Strong analytical-reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Can-do attitude with an openness to others' ideas
- Highly self-motivated and efficient with superb attention to detail
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design is a plus
- Knowledge of computer programming, mobile, and web technologies is a plus

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in education, English, linguistics, or a related field
- English teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience; experience in grades 6–12 is a plus
- Experience in curriculum development and instructional design is a plus
- Outstanding written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a wide range of age groups
- Ability to think strategically and creatively solve problems
