About the Role

This position is a “hands-on” role with operational responsibility for servicing hedge and private equity fund of fund and access fund vehicles (the “funds”) in conjunction with third-party administrators, managing all fund accounting and financial reporting to investors, including capital activity, partner capital statements, annual audited financials, and tax deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with underlying fund managers, fund administrator and distributors
• Design and implement processes and procedures for servicing the funds. Work in close partnership with the management team to enhance and automate key processes, and to develop and enhance product, management, and other reporting, targeting both efficiency and scale
• Work closely with investor relations, product, legal and compliance, technology, and sales & marketing teams to support fund operations
• Participate in new fund structuring, set up and onboarding
• Provide oversight of fund administrators and other service providers, such as auditors, tax service providers, and custodians
• Monitor cash positions and liquidity of investments, reconciliations and manage cash reserves 
• Run accounts payable and expense allocation process 
• Define, update and maintain operating policies and procedures
• Liaise with funds’ custodian and funds’ bank, as well as other counterparties as needed 
• Work with counsel/CCO to ensure general compliance with fund docs as well as regulatory filings and requirements such as SEC and FINRA 
• Ad-hoc activities as required by the team and different parts of the organization

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics or another business-related field
• 3-4 years of fund accounting, fund administration or finance operations experience (prefer a focus on alternative investment funds including fund-of-funds and feeder funds, but not necessary).
• Passion for the application of innovative technology
• Advanced accounting skills, with a preference for experience within an audit framework
• Advanced Excel skills
• Demonstrated capacity and willingness to work within a close team structure on all tasks
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proven ability to multi-task and work both independently and as a team player in a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• High level of integrity

About the Role

iCapital is looking to hire a Data Privacy Attorney to join the Legal team with a focus on data privacy matters. The ideal candidate will work across all functions, help manage external contractual relationships, and supervise outside counsel.  This role will work closely with both our General Counsel and other attorneys within our Legal and Compliance groups.

Responsibilities

• Help build, implement and manage privacy policies and practices for our global organization, with a “GDPR-first” approach to standardization (as adjusted for local jurisdiction requirements).
• Lead new market assessment for personal data issues: determine the specific data privacy requirements of new jurisdictions we do business and guide the teams as to what we can and cannot do from a personal data perspective.
• Draft and review complex, data-driven client agreements, including terms of service, privacy policies and commercial agreements.
• Handle client enquiries regarding data protection practices, withdrawal of information, right to be forgotten and related rights.  
• Manage client data rights tracking for new products and services (e.g., portfolio analytics, market insights, indices)
• Draft and review various contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and other legal documentation.
• Monitor the industry landscape to keep visibility on evolutions, trends and best practices related to data issues (e.g., expanding personal data rights, AI/ML regulations).
• Perform ad hoc research projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant experience within a top-tier law firm and/or in-house in a data rights management or data protection role.
• Licensed to practice law in good standing in Portugal.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
• Willing to learn new topics and work in an evolving business environment.
• High level of integrity.

This position will manage all fund accounting and financial reporting to investors, including capital activity, partner capital statements, annual audited financials, and tax deliverables.

• Design and implement processes and procedures for servicing the funds. Work in close partnership with the management team to enhance and automate key processes, and to develop and enhance product, management, and other reporting, targeting both efficiency and scale.
• Work closely with Investor Relations, Product, Legal and Compliance, Technology, Sales, and Marketing teams to support fund operations.
• Participate in new fund structuring, setup, and onboarding.
• Review feeder fund draft documents (LPA/PPM) as well as underlying fund operational questionnaires prior to fund launch. Provide feedback to internal legal or fund origination teams if there is anything that should be considered from a fund finance perspective.
• Provide oversight of fund administrators and other service providers, such as auditors, tax service providers, and custodians.
• Monitor cash positions and liquidity of investments, reconciliations, and manage cash reserves. 
• Determine subscription/commitment sizes to underlying funds and conduct analysis on feeder fund expenses.
• Run accounts payable and expense allocation processes. 
• Oversee monthly / quarterly feeder fund NAV and statement issuance by the team/administrator and track KPIs.
• Review and sign-off on capital calls, distributions, cash analysis, investor allocation files, and notices prepared by third party admins
• Define, update, and maintain operating policies and procedures.
• Liaise with funds’ custodian and funds’ bank, as well as other counterparties as needed.
• Work with counsel and CCO to ensure general compliance with fund docs as well as regulatory filings and requirements such as SEC and FINRA.
• Fulfill ad-hoc tasks as required by the team and different parts of the organization.
