Role purpose

This role of a Sr Software Engineer– Frontend in the Core Applications team is to develop, maintain, and advance the component library across Five9. Responsibilities include software design and development, testing and documentation across our React component library. A passion for developing consistent, high-quality, and performant user interfaces is a necessity.

How you contribute

• Build Reusable, Responsive, and WCAG Accessible components for our design system and web applications. Translate Figma designs into component code to align with design specifications.
• Maintain and Organize the Design Token system, bootloader, and codemods in collaboration with other Nimbus developers and the design team.
• Continuously Improve our React component library with the latest in frontend packages, patterns, and best practices.
• Ensure Seamless Deployment by implementing CI/CD unit tests, integration tests, and visual regression tests, publish, and communicate component library enhancements.
• Collaborate closely with our cross-functional teams including the design team, product managers, UI Architects, and other frontend developers to build new components and make improvements to existing components.
• Advocate and Propose standards, best practices, and guidelines, to ensure high-quality scalable and maintainable code.
• Mentor and Support other team members with quality-focused code reviews, strategic planning, and knowledge-sharing approach.

Skills, competencies and qualifications

Required:

• 5+ years of post-internship experience with React and TypeScript.
• Strong proficiency in semantic HTML, CSS (preferably SCSS), and JavaScript.
• Experience with component libraries, design systems, and design tokens.
• Have a keen-eye with attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong expertise in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
• Experience with frontend tooling and migration (preferably Vite and Codemod)
• Experience with testing (e.g. React Testing Library, Enzyme, Cypress, Chromatic).
• Experience working closely with designers using Figma.

Technical credibility. You won't be heads-down in the codebase every day, but you'll understand the trade-offs your team is navigating architecture decisions, technical debt, build vs buy and contribute meaningfully to those conversations.

What We're Looking For

Leadership first. You've managed engineers before and have a point of view on what good looks like. You know how to have hard conversations, give developmental feedback, and motivate people.

Technical foundation in .NET. Our backend is C#/.NET Core and you'll need enough depth to earn trust with your engineers, review decisions, and spot risks. You don't need to be across every layer of the stack you need to be honest about what you know and curious about what you don't.

Product mindset. You think about engineering in the context of business outcomes, not just technical correctness. You can push back on scope, advocate for quality, and translate between engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Software Development
• 3+ years experience in leading and mentoring software engineers as senior or lead developer
• Strong expertise in Observability (monitoring / logging / telemetry) tooling
• Experience with distributed systems and scalable architectures
• Proven ability to translate requirements into actionable engineering work
• Experience with Agile methodologies and delivery management
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with AI development

• Be part of an agile team to develop a scalable, highly available cloud contact center software using Java and single-page JavaScript.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering leaders and Test Engineers.
• Deliver scalable software in both private cloud and public cloud settings (AWS and Google Cloud Platform).
• Deliver using containers (docker, Kubernetes) using CI/CD in a DevOps model.
• Bring a positive attitude to the team, helping mentor more junior engineers, drive our standards, show ownership and an obsession for our customers.

• 2+ years of professional experience developing Java applications – including delivering RESTful and gRPC apis. 
• 5+ years of professional or open-source experience writing JavaScript MVC.
• Agile coding experience, working in small teams making a big impact fast.
• Familiarity with standard javascript async patterns (events, closures, callbacks, promises, error handling, etc.).
• Strong CS fundamentals and an object oriented language (think an undergrad CS degree, or similar amount of work experience).
• Positive, self-motivated and enthusiastic with a strong sense of ownership.

• Experience with Salesforce integrations as OpenCTI and Service Cloud Voice.
• Experience with Voice applications and/or SIP Protocols.
• Experience with Contact Center or Call Center software.
• 1+ years of professional or open-source experience with a JavaScript MVC toolkit such as React, Dojo, AngularJS, Backbone.js, Knockout or Ember.js.
• 1+ years of experience delivering production software using Containers (Docker or similar).
• 1+ years of experience delivering production software into Public Cloud.
• Experience in a modern consumer environment (Pinterest, Box, Quora, Facebook...) and/or open source projects (contributed to node.js, dojo toolkit, NPM modules, etc).
• Experience with GIT SCM.
• Passion for user experience and strong design experience.
• Experience with a data visualization package (Highcharts, d3.js, etc.).
