About the role:

Preferred Skills:

• Strong backend engineering experience, with Go as a primary or preferred language;

We're looking for an Engineering Team Lead to lead one of our product engineering teams here at Capital on Tap.

This is a people-first leadership role. You won't be the best coder in the room you'll be the person who makes the whole room better.

What You'll Own

Your team. Hiring, developing, and retaining engineers. Running 1:1s that actually matter. Spotting who's ready to grow and creating the space for them to do it.

Delivery. Partnering with Product and QA to plan and ship reliably not by micromanaging, but by removing obstacles, managing risk, and keeping the team focused on what matters.

Culture. Setting the tone for how the team communicates, gives feedback, and holds itself accountable. Building psychological safety without sacrificing standards.

Technical credibility. You won't be heads-down in the codebase every day, but you'll understand the trade-offs your team is navigating architecture decisions, technical debt, build vs buy and contribute meaningfully to those conversations.

What We're Looking For

Leadership first. You've managed engineers before and have a point of view on what good looks like. You know how to have hard conversations, give developmental feedback, and motivate people.

Technical foundation in .NET. Our backend is C#/.NET Core and you'll need enough depth to earn trust with your engineers, review decisions, and spot risks. You don't need to be across every layer of the stack you need to be honest about what you know and curious about what you don't.

Product mindset. You think about engineering in the context of business outcomes, not just technical correctness. You can push back on scope, advocate for quality, and translate between engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

We're looking to hire for our Data side of our AI team at Speechify. This role is responsible for all aspects of data collection to support our model training operations. We are able to build high-quality datasets at petabyte-scale and low cost through a tight integration of infrastructure, engineering, and research work. What You’ll Do

• Be scrappy to find new sources of audio data and bring it into our ingestion pipeline
• Operate and extend the cloud infrastructure for our ingestion pipeline, currently running on GCP and managed with Terraform.
• Collaborate closely with our Scientists to shift the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer data at bigger scale and lower cost to power our next-generation models.
• Collaborate with others on the AI Team and Speechify Leadership to craft the AI Team’s dataset roadmap to power Speechify’s next-generation consumer and enterprise products.

An Ideal Candidate Should Have

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
• Proficiency with bash/Python scripting in Linux environments

This team builds and maintains the foundational services and SDKs that power Speechify’s product experience across platforms. What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with Speechify’s Product Teams to scope projects, find ways to reduce scope to get faster feedback from customers, navigate the integration/UX tradeoffs relevant to different product teams, and deliver solutions via our cross-platform SDK
• Optimize existing functionality to ship things like faster loading and more intelligent parsing by designing more efficient abstractions and improving our algorithms

Required:

• 3+ in Windows desktop application development using Windows App SDK, WinUI (or similar), C#, XAML — and ideally additional experience with native Windows code (C++, Win32/WinRT/COM).

The Role

We are an IoT startup turning massive-scale, low-power device data into real-world impact. With a fleet of more than one million connected devices, we generate high-volume telemetry every day. We are looking for a passionate Backend Developer to help enrich, transform and distribute this data in a flexible hybrid setup combining remote and in-office work from our new office in Portugal.

You will join an interdisciplinary agile product team and contribute to the design, implementation and operation of distributed backend services. Together with your team, you will build reliable, scalable systems that process large volumes of device data and power customer-facing products.

We are looking for someone curious, pragmatic and collaborative who enjoys solving complex problems, automating repetitive tasks, and continuously improving how the team works.

Your responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services, including tests and  technical documentation
• Deploy and operate services using CI/CD best practices
• Take end-to-end ownership across the full lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, deployment and operations
• Monitor services and data streams and respond to anomalies
• Provide 3rd-level support and ensure service availability during business hours
• Review merge requests and design documents from teammates
• Participate in agile software development activities (e.g. planning meetings, reviews, retrospectives…)

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Strong experience with Kotlin or Java
• Solid knowledge of backend architecture, distributed systems and API design
• Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL (DynamoDB)
• Familiarity with messaging systems (Kafka, SQS, SNS)
• Experience building and operating containerized services (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS or Fargate)
• Solid understanding of software testing (TDD is encouraged but not mandatory)
• Curious and never afraid of learning to master new tools, technologies, and methodologies
• Fluent in English

Nice to have:

• Geospatial data experience
• Gradle knowledge
• Linux / Unix shell skills
