Junior Field Exploration Geologist

Please note:  The Junior Field Exploration Geologist must live a commutable distance to the Nussir Project, Hammerfest Region, Finnmark, Norway.

Work Schedule:  Monday through Friday with overtime as required.

Blue Moon Metals Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Field Exploration Geologist to join our dynamic team at the Nussir project in Norway. The successful candidate will support geological operations, contribute to exploration, logging and modeling activities, and gain hands-on experience in a cutting-edge mining environment focused on responsible resource development.

Role Accountabilities

Exploration

Assist with discovery focused exploration on specific projects within the Nussir project through:

• Increased geological understanding of the project and wider region
• Developing good exploration targets with rigorous, but cost-effective testing and evaluation
• Design and implement a variety of field exploration programs
• Communicating results, observations and recommendations to management
• Development and mentoring of all direct reports
• Ensure all operations are conducted in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner with due regard to local community concerns
• Expected to fully participate in geological mapping, drill core or chip logging, surface sampling, drill program execution, in addition to any supervisory responsibilities

Safety

• Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
• Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.
• Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures
• Ensure hazard management plans are observed.
• Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.
• Active participation to the Health & Safety system development

People

• Supervise and review the work of direct reports and others and provide feedback to the Senior Geologist
• Overview, provide direction and act as a technical reference point and mentor for staff while ensuring work outputs are in line with exploration program.
• Be responsible for implementing and ongoing monitoring of performance and development review plans for all direct reports.
• Ensure personnel have the appropriate equipment, licenses, skills, induction and training to safely undertake their tasks.
• Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related department.
• Be an active team member of the exploration group and company as a whole but also be proactive in individual lateral and forward thinking.

Cost

• Ensure all costs incurred remain within budget and identify cost savings opportunities.
• Plan, approve and monitor any expenditure under your authority.

Safety

• Assist with constant improvements of the Company’s safety systems
• Achieve zero LTI’s

Production

• Complete a minimum of 5,000m of exploration drilling for the financial year
• Assist with maintaining daily/weekly/monthly quality control and exploration deliverable targets
• Assist with preparation of daily and weekly reports by the due date
• Participate actively in staff development and training

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Geology is required.
• Master's of Science degree is desirable.
• Minimum 2 years' related experience.

Technical Capabilities

• Advanced use of various company & departmental systems
• Computer knowledge: achieve proficient knowledge and constant self-improvement of all aspects of geological and reporting software required
• Relevant field geology, technical and academic experience
• Relevant management experience
• Knowledge of the local exploration and mining regulations
• Good time management and organizational skills

Role Challenges

• Aid in the discovery of additional high-grade, economic ore deposits through systematic exploration and lateral thinking
• Create and maintain harmony and efficiency within the geological team, and the Company as a whole
• Manage, execute and report on results from exploration programs and geological projects
• Work in collaboration with the Senior Geologist to gather and interpret critical geological, geochemical and geophysical datasets to identify the most prospective targets that have the potential to yield a significant ore discovery.

Note: The Junior Geologist will work at the Nussir project site. Priority will be given to those residing within the Nussir area of Norway.

Key responsibilities:

· Overseeing the underground Mine Geology function by planning and scheduling in-mine geological activities to ensure business plans are achieved safely.

· Collaborate with mine planning team, with contractor’s production organization including mine foreman and surveyor to optimize resource extraction.

· Closely monitor stope drawing and waste development to ensure economic cut-off grades are maintained.

· Develop and implement systematic sampling methods to accurately determine ore grade and minimize dilution.

· Manage and analyze production data, complete monthly production reconciliation, and reports for the management team.

· Control and support diamond drilling contractors ensuring adherence to safety protocols and operational best practices.

· Mentoring and supporting the professional development of the team.

· Contributing to the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles.

· Assisting with forecast and budget cycles by tracking expenditure and managing geological drilling contractors.

· Developing and overseeing geological grade control processes to ensure a high standard of QA/QC is developed and maintained.

· Support the corporate resource geologist to prepare and maintain geological models. (wireframing and estimation).

· Calculation and reporting of grade control models including the accurate tracking of mine depletion.

Requirements:

· A bachelor’s degree in Geology from a recognized post-secondary institution is essential; a Master’s degree in Geology is a plus.

· Minimum 6 years’ experience in underground non-ferrous metals production, preferably with precious and base metals. Exploration experience is also highly desired.

· Experience with project management with an emphasis on managing diamond drilling contractors.

· Strong technical knowledge of underground grade control, sampling techniques, reconciliation and underground mapping (geological and structural).

· Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and manage the performance of a technical team.

· Understanding of mining geology, including face sampling and mapping, ore deposits geochemistry, structural geology and grade modelling

· 3D modelling software experience (like VULCAN, Leapfrog, Deswik, Supervisor).

· Fluent in English, both in oral and written, is required. Norwegian or Swedish skills would be an advantage.
