The IT Specialist position is responsible for process development, documentation, Security Updates and IT support for TEGNA’s server and workstation platforms within the Charlotte Hub. Working with other team members, this position will recommend, and assist in the implementation of toolsets, and services to ensure the health, security and optimal performance of the TEGNA Hub Data Centers, on premise infrastructure, as well as IT services. This position will be responsible for documenting changes, upgrades and evaluation to ensure technology is deployed and maintained with minimal impact to the Hub business center. This position is part of a team responsible for the live operation and support of multiple television stations in 24/7 centralized operations environment. The ideal candidate is a self-starter capable of working independently or as part of a team. The Ingest Operator is responsible for the preparation and distribution of both short form and long form content for all TEGNA television stations.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the ingest, preparation, and technical quality control of broadcast content including, but not limited to, local programing, syndicated programming, paid programming, commercials, and some promotional inventory in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
• Review and manage digital content to ensure technical standards are met and inventory will play upon demand.
• Work with TEGNA stations to ensure the timely preparation and distribution of short form and long form content.
• Read format sheets and prep content to specifications given.
• Work directly with station personnel on technical specification requirements and delivery requirements of digital content.
• Verify that digital linear feeds, file pitches/transmissions, fiber feeds, downlinks, records are correctly scheduled and updated as necessary.
• Be able to set up and maintain the Crispin Record Scheduler.
• Apply knowledge of and ability to use electronic equipment and computer hardware and software related to television broadcast operations, including, but not limited to, video and audio routing equipment, file servers, and multi-channel automation systems.
• Use Wide Orbit Traffic System to run reports and create digital logs.
• Demonstrate desire and ability to stay current with the evolving technology in the rapidly changing communications industry.
