Role Overview

The Product Auditor provides independent assurance over the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of product controls across payment, wallet, settlement, switches and other related products across the organisation

The role ensures that new and existing products are deployed with adequate financial, operational, security, and regulatory controls, safeguarding the organization against revenue leakage, settlement failures, regulatory breaches, and technology-driven risks.

The Product Auditor will independently evaluate product risk exposure and control maturity prior to scale.

Key Responsibilities 

Audit Universe & Risk-Based Planning

• Maintain a living Product Audit Universe covering all payment products, features, and integrations ranked by risk. 
• Own the annual Product Audit Plan, ensuring coverage is allocated dynamically based on risk ratings, product complexity, regulatory sensitivity, and change velocity.

Product Design & Control Assurance

• Review PRDs, business rules, and transaction workflows to identify logic gaps, unmitigated risk paths, and missing exception-handling routines before products reach production/go-live. 
• Analyse product path scenarios, verify Maker-Checker enforcement, and provide formal control design sign-off before any material release goes live.

Live Product Assessment ( Continuous Audit Review)

• Periodically assess live payment products to confirm they continue to operate within approved design parameters. 
• Detect configuration drift, identify silent divergence from original PRDs, and analyse live transaction data for emerging risk patterns.

Go-Live Readiness & Control Gate

• Execute mandatory pre-production Product Audit reviews as an independent control gate for all material releases. 
• Confirm reconciliation logic, exception queues, and fallback controls are tested and functional. 
• Escalate critical deficiencies with risk ratings and hold recommendations where a product is not safe to release.

Transaction Logic & Mathematical Integrity

• Interrogate the Fee Engine using SQL to mathematically prove that commissions, VAT, discounts, and splits are posted with complete precision. 
• Validate duplicate prevention mechanisms and ensure transaction integrity within complex, multi-step payment sequences, and test reversal, refund, and chargeback logic to confirm financial symmetry is maintained in every scenario.

Settlement & Ledger Integrity

• Trace fund flows, confirming continuous synchronisation between wallet sub-ledgers and the General Ledger. 
• Assess reconciliation logic for breaks and evaluate the authorisation, documentation, and reversibility of manual settlement overrides.

Product Change & Configuration Integrity

• Confirm that all product modifications: fee tables, routing rules, limit parameters passed through an approved change management cycle. 
• Identify silent changes made outside formal release processes and audit the integrity of product master data to ensure it is access-controlled, version-tracked, and consistent with approved product terms.

Vendor & Third-Party Product Risk

• Assess controls over vendor-managed product components, evaluate SLA performance against contractual commitments, and identify single-vendor dependency risks within critical payment flows. 
• Evaluate the organisation's ability to detect unilateral changes in third-party API behaviour, fee logic, or settlement processes.

Control Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage product and engineering teams early in the design cycle to provide informal control advisory, reducing findings at the formal review stage without compromising independence. 
• Participate in design reviews and architecture discussions, and build a control-by-design culture across product teams. 

Incident Review, RCA & Regulatory Alignment

• Lead post-incident reviews for product failures,producing structured RCA reports that identify underlying logic failures, not just surface symptoms. 
• Assess corrective actions for adequacy and track findings to verify closure. 
• Ensure product logic complies with CBN guidelines, PCI DSS, and consumer protection obligations at the design level, and evaluate the regulatory impact of new features before release.

Reporting & Governance

• Prepare risk-rated audit reports for Executive Management and the Audit Committee, leading with findings, financial impact, and required action. 
• Maintain a Product Risk Register, deliver quarterly control maturity updates, and ensure governance bodies are never surprised by a product failure that was visible at the design or portfolio review stage.

About the role

Sand is scaling rapidly across Africa, partnering with Ministries of Health to deploy the Health Operating System (HOS) — a decision-support and execution platform that transforms how health systems sense, analyze, and act on data. The HOS is already operational across multiple countries, with plans to expand to 15 countries by end of 2026, supported by 80+ Forward Deployed Engineers.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you are the technical spearhead of our client engagement in Nigeria. Unlike our roaming FDE roles, this is a permanently embedded position. You will be based full-time within the Ministry of Health in Nigeria, becoming a long-term extension of the client's operational team. Your mandate is to build deep institutional relationships, develop comprehensive understanding of the national health system, and deliver sustained value over an extended engagement — not just rapid sprints, but lasting transformation.

This is not staff augmentation. You are an amalgamation of three roles:

1. The Software Engineer — Deep technical acumen to build and deploy production-grade solutions using Sand's product suite
2. The Product Manager — Strategic foresight to understand client problems, influence business objectives, and identify expansion opportunities
3. The Consultant — Client-facing finesse to navigate complex stakeholder relationships, manage scope, and transfer knowledge

Your primary mission is to prove our value fast, delivering functional solutions rapidly using Sand's products, playbooks, and tools, and then maturing those solutions into mission-critical infrastructure that the Ministry depends on daily. Requirements — Essential

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, data science, system deployment, or technical leadership
• Proficiency in at least one of: Python, SQL/PostgreSQL, JavaScript — with ability to write production-grade code
• Strong problem-solving skills with a bias toward action and rapid prototyping
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — comfortable presenting to senior government or corporate stakeholders and translating between technical and non-technical audiences

Work Environment

This is a permanently embedded role. You will work on-site at the Ministry of Health in Nigeria 4 days per week, with 1 day for focused remote work, internal collaboration, and knowledge sharing with the broader FDE community. You should expect to be based in Nigeria for a minimum of 12-24 months.

The Role

Telnyx infrastructure team is building a next-generation platform that spans across multiple cloud providers and multiple continents. We leverage the Telnyx private backbone network with cross-connects to major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, GCP, and IBM Cloud to build a cloud-agnostic, highly available platform. With our lean team, we're currently running infrastructure in 10 PoPs and 3 continents.

In This Role You Will

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable solutions for managing databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Redis, and others, both in virtualized environments and Kubernetes clusters.
• Collaborate with engineering to identify and resolve pain points in managing large-scale, high-availability database infrastructure.
• Lead the migration of existing database services from VMs to Kubernetes, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless transitions.

As we enter a phase of accelerated growth, we are seeking a Technical Financial Crime Manager to own, design, and scale our fraud and AML detection capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of data, engineering, and financial crime operations, with end-to-end accountability for ensuring our monitoring systems are technically robust, domain-accurate, and scalable across multiple markets.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will define detection logic, guide system design, and directly influence how financial crime risk is identified and managed at Paystack, while also leading and developing high-performing fraud and AML teams.

• Own the end-to-end fraud and AML detection domain, ensuring alignment between prevention, detection, investigation, and remediation.
• Apply deep understanding of fraud typologies, AML/CTF risks, sanctions, and regulatory expectations to detection design.
• Manage the Fraud and AML operational teams (specialists and first-line managers) to ensure adequate coverage, capability and day-to-day execution. 
• Translate regulatory, partner, and audit requirements into scalable technical and operational controls.
• Stay ahead of evolving financial crime patterns, market-specific risks, and regulatory developments across Paystack’s footprint.

Tooling, Automation & Scale

• Partner with Product and Engineering to embed detection logic into core systems and improve monitoring, alerting, and case management tooling.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual effort, improve consistency, and enable scale without compromising control quality.
• Identify and prioritise enhancements to monitoring platforms, workflows, and data pipelines.
• Ensure fraud and AML tooling evolves in line with transaction growth, new products, and new markets.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) responsible for ensuring our systems run smoothly and efficiently while engineering solutions to improve visibility, eliminate repetitive tasks, and increase system resilience. The ideal candidate will balance real-time on-call responsibilities with strategic engineering work to achieve sustainable and scalable service reliability.

Responsibilities

• Participate in on-call rotations to detect and triage service and reliability issues across all environments. Act as the Incident Commander during major incidents: initiating war room or bridge calls, coordinating cross-functional teams, providing timely and clear status updates to all stakeholders.
• Create and maintain meaningful dashboards and alerts. Work with development teams to instrument their code to ensure visibility.
• Develop automation to eliminate manual and repetitive operational tasks (toil) related to reliability across both applications and infrastructure.
• Implement and track Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) defined by the engineering leadership.
• Investigate and resolve customer complaints escalated beyond L1 and L2 support, especially those involving performance, reliability, or complex system behavior.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting enterprise applications as an SRE or similar role with proficiency in writing code in Java, Go or Python
• Good understanding of distributed systems concepts, microservices architecture and software design patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes. You have managed applications on a major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, or Azure), and can troubleshoot common container issues.
• Experience setting up dashboards in Grafana and using APM tools like Datadog, New Relic, Signoz.You have a  Solid understanding of metrics, logs, and traces.
• Proficiency in SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL). Ability to write complex queries to debug data issues and a basic understanding of database performance.

We are seeking an experienced SRE to engineer the reliability of our highly distributed platform. You will combine deep knowledge of distributed systems with strong coding skills to define SLOs, lead incident response, and build automation and self-healing mechanisms into our systems. You will balance immediate operational stability with long-term strategic engineering to ensure our services scale linearly with our hyper-growth.

Responsibilities

• Participate in on-call rotations as the primary technical lead. Act as the Incident Commander during major severity incidents: initiating war rooms, coordinating cross-functional teams, and providing clear status updates.
