 Job Summary:

Voyager Technologies is seeking an innovative Director of Growth, Regional University Engagement to partner with the University of North Dakota in standing up two programs: Voyager and UND national security initiative technologies and product development, and the Voyager Science Park VISTA’s base of operations at UND.

This role emphasizes translating UND–VOYAGER–VISTA collaboration into scalable programs, funded initiatives, and deployable capabilities that serve both commercial space markets and U.S. national security objectives. UND Partnership & Ecosystem Development

Research, Infrastructure & Capability Development

• Guide development of facilities, shared infrastructure, and testbeds in North Dakota supporting space and defense missions.
• Align workforce development with UND aerospace medicine, EVA training, autonomy, and space operations expertise.

Leadership & Operations

• Provide representation for Voyager and VISTA operations in North Dakota.
• Establish metrics, governance, and reporting structures for program performance.
• Develop a strategic plan for Voyager and VISTA that aligns with Voyager and UND’s agreed upon vision.

 Required Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
• 7+ years of leadership experience in aerospace, defense, space systems, research organizations, or innovation ecosystems.
• Demonstrated experience working on multi-stakeholder research or technology programs.
• Familiarity with national security, defense, or dual-use technology environments.

What You’ll Get to Do:

• Leadership & Strategic Responsibilities
  • Set strategic direction for the survey division that is aligned with company goals.
  • Lead division level planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.
  • Drive division-level quality, risk management, and safety compliance.
  • Develop staff through mentoring, hiring, and company performance management programs.
  • Represent Civil Science in municipal, regional, and state forums and industry organizations
• Business Development Responsibilities
  • Lead business development efforts for the ND survey market, including identifying new clients, pursuing strategic opportunities, and overseeing proposal development.
  • Monitor funding cycles and position the Division for upcoming opportunities.
  • Cultivate long-term relationships with agencies, councils, and community partners.

What Qualifications You’ll Need:

• North Dakota Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferred but not mandatory
• 12+ years of surveying experience with strong technical depth.
• Proven ability to develop and sustain revenue-generating client relationships in the North Dakota surveying market.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel and meet client needs throughout North Dakota and potentially in surrounding states.
• Proven experience overseeing and managing multi-project delivery.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, think critically, and support multiple departments simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of project management: budgeting, scheduling, quality control, resource planning.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and team development skills.
• Demonstrated ability to implement and uphold quality management processes.
• Ability to balance technical work with operational and strategic responsibilities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Must be able to work on active construction sites—including uneven terrain, varying weather conditions, and moderate-to-high noise levels.
• Frequent physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
