Apex is expanding our Florida presence and seeking a Senior Client Development Manager to support the continued growth of our Southwest Florida offices (Naples, Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, and surrounding markets), with the opportunity to expand client development efforts across additional Florida markets over time.

This is a hybrid position based out of our Naples, Florida office, with regular travel across our Florida service area.

This is a strategic, growth role for a senior, client-facing professional with a strong Florida municipal network, deep familiarity with public-sector procurement and capital planning cycles, and the credibility to open doors at the city manager, public works director, and county commissioner level. The successful candidate will partner closely with Apex's Florida leadership and technical teams to strengthen existing client relationships, build new ones, and represent Apex in the markets we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Development & Relationship Management

• Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal, county, and public-utility clients across Apex's Florida service area.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with city managers, public works directors, county commissioners, and senior municipal staff.
• Represent Apex at professional associations and industry conferences including ICMA, FCCMA, ULI, and other relevant organizations.
• Partner with Apex's Florida leadership and technical teams to support client engagement and pursuit activities.

Market Insight & Strategy

• Maintain a current view of Florida public-sector market conditions and share relevant intelligence with Apex leadership.
• Identify and qualify new client opportunities aligned with Apex's Florida capabilities.
• Provide informed input on pursuit strategy and teaming considerations.

Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with Apex's regional and business unit leadership on Florida growth priorities.
• Coordinate with peer business development resources to maintain clear account ownership.
• Support Apex's marketing and proposal teams with current client and market context.
• Apply Apex's CRM and pipeline-tracking standards to all client activities.

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or public administration credential a plus.
• 10+ years of senior-level experience in Florida public-sector leadership, municipal government, or public-private business development.
• Prior service as a Deputy City Manager, Assistant City Manager, or comparable senior municipal role strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated personal network across Florida cities and counties at the city manager, public works director, or commissioner level.
• Active or recent membership in ICMA, FCCMA, ULI, or comparable professional associations.
• Working knowledge of Florida public procurement and municipal capital planning.
• Strong ability to operate effectively within an engineering and consulting business in a non-technical capacity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the credibility and presence appropriate for senior municipal audiences.
• Florida residency required.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Account Manager maintains and expands relationships with assigned account base customers, with intentions to maximize sales/profit for every account and most importantly to expand CR market penetration within the assigned area.

The Account Manager represents the entire range of company products and services to assigned customers, while leading the customer account planning cycle and ensuring assigned customers’ needs and expectations are met by the company.

This position will be required to build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships with current customers and prospects to grow sales and to expand CR penetration with Designers, Architects and Builders’ segments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts.
• Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations.
• Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts
• Proactively leads a joint company account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones for a one and three-year period.
• Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.
• Develops a sales action plan to service accounts with high growth potential, collect strategic “intel”, and develop leads from existing account base to better infiltrate designers, architects, and builder’s as potential customers.
• Participates actively with local professional organizations linked with CR's tactics and strategies.
• Creates and executes specific plan to introduce and implement CR products in showrooms, K & B accounts to create demand within the market. Expand Pompeii brand penetration assigning more displays to qualified customers/locations.
• Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

• Achieves assigned sales quota in designated strategic accounts.
• Meets assigned expectations for profitability.
• Achieves customer objectives defined by company management.
• Completes customer account plans that meet company standards.
• Closely coordinates company executive involvement with customer management.
• Works closely with Customer Service Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction and problem resolution

• Visits every customer, with displays at least once per month, with mandatory report visits via email to Director of Sales.
• Strategizes, organizes assigned territory/region and plan sales calls weekly.
• Develops an action plan to approach designers, architects and builders, once fabricator leads are found during weekly visits.
• Promotes and executes product knowledge (PKs) at customer’s location and if possible, invite customers to visit one of CR's branches.
• Actively participates and leverages branch events as ways to increase sales.

REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree or proven track record of at least 10 years-experience in sales and marketing is required.
• Prefer knowledge and experience in the building material industry, in some capacity.
• Have the ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of CR's competitors, including their capabilities, past competitive history, and can assist in developing a plan to beat them!
• Must be detail-oriented and highly organized with a hunter mentality in the approach to developing and executing strategic plans.
