We're searching for a Staff Global Supply Manager to be the strategic owner of our supply chain for complex optical hardware and the Contract Manufacturer (CM) who builds our systems. This high-impact role requires a deep blend of technical expertise and commercial acumen. You will manage the entire supply chain for our optical subsystems, including free-space optics, and the underlying components like lasers, mirrors, lenses, and photodetectors. Your core responsibility is to ensure a reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective supply for our hardware at every stage.

In this role, you will:

• Partner with our Engineering teams to understand technology requirements and business objectives. You will develop and execute sourcing strategies for both highly specialized optical components and the Contract Manufacturer who assemble them.
• Manage the supply chain from initial prototype builds through to production readiness, focusing on setting a foundation for future scaling. This involves managing direct relationships with specialized optical suppliers and ensuring our CMs effectively manage their own sub-tier supply base..
• Accurately capture NRE, tooling, capital equipment, and material costs. Negotiate competitive pricing, terms, and conditions with both component suppliers and CMs to secure supply and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Partner closely with our Legal team to draft and finalize legal agreements (e.g., Purchase Agreements, Statements of Work) that secure pricing, capacity, and quality commitments.
• Track global market conditions, monitor technology roadmaps, and identify supply and demand challenges and opportunities within the optical and manufacturing industries.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Optical), or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, with a proven track record of managing global supply chains
• Deep understanding of optical systems and manufacturing, including components like lenses, mirrors, lasers, photodetectors, and processes for coatings and precision assembly.
• Demonstrated experience managing Contract Manufacturers for the production of complex, high-reliability products.
• Strong analytical and cost modeling skills, with the ability to perform detailed "should-cost" analysis.
• Exceptional ability to influence internal and external stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., Engineering, Legal, Finance).
• Tenacity in solving problems, with a resilient and adaptable "can-do" attitude in a dynamic environment.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on safety-critical components and high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), specifically for optical assemblies.
• Hands-on experience with optical metrology and quality control processes.
• Experience with competitor product teardown analysis to inform strategic sourcing decisions.

The base salary range for this position is $143,000 - $229,000 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. We’re searching for a Senior Engineer to join Aurora’s Hardware NPI Engineering team. 

The NPI Engineer is responsible for shepherding hardware from concept review to low-volume manufacturing. They guide design engineers in selecting appropriate manufacturing processes and are on the floor through each build to deliver finished vehicle integrations, electronic sensors and modules, and computers.

In this role, you will

• Provide feedback on manufacturing and service requirements, process control plans, and quality assurance. Develop hardware standards and design guidelines.
• Own control plans, manufacturing BOM, and necessary documentation to transfer HW from design to the production floor, whether internal or external.
• Review data packages before they are released for manufacturing.
• Create and maintain work instructions, standard operating procedures, forms, records, checklists, process sequence/routing, Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), PFMEAs, and other required manufacturing documentation
• Support and guide the manufacturing team through all phases of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP); particularly the later phases associated with designing and developing the manufacturing process and validating the Process / Product (i.e., MSAs, production trial runs, Run @ Rate, PPAPs, control plans)
• Research manufacturing fabrication and processes new to the company and guide design engineers on their use. Create Requests for Quotation/Proposal when necessary.
• Act as a liaison between the module, integration and electrical teams and cross-functional teams for planning, logistics, and ad hoc requests. Organize cross-functional design reviews.
• Lead or participate in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment
• Quickly come-up-to speed on new technologies and engineering challenges
• Conduct multidisciplinary rapid problem-solving activities and propose solutions to both prototype and production manufacturing challenges, such as Design for Excellence (DfX) input, e.g., Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Design for Assembly (DfA), Design for Cost/Procurement (DfC/DfP), Design for Inspection/Test (DfI/T), Design for Service/Repair/Maintenance (DfS/R/M)
• Work with internal production and external CMs. 
• Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
• International Travel 35%.
• Evening Conference calls with CM in Asia 2-3 times a week.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years experience in engineering role with experience working in low to high volume production environments.
• Bonus points for experience in AV, robotics, or the automotive industry.
• Experience with launching hardware products and the product life cycle, and selecting the right-sized process based on the needs of the program.
• Experience with working with supply chain and vendors, bonus points for experience in design engineering and new product introduction.
• Working knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience with 3D CAD and PDM/PLM, preferably Catia/Solidworks and Enovia/EPDM.
• Need to live in a high output constantly evolving environment wearing many hats that include everything from concepts to sustaining engineering.
• Extensive design experience that can be leveraged to successfully work with cross-functional partners like the internal design team and external CM’s.

Desirable Qualifications 

• Experience in the automotive industry
• Experience with optical, electro-optical, and opto-mechanical assembly and manufacture.

The base salary range for this position is $115,000 - $184,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
